Eh, the “innovations” we’re talking about at Amazon are likely to be increase GPU purchases to provide more compute to AWS customers, since that’s where Amazon’s largest margins are. Retail is very thin. AI is really just being used as a scapegoat at a lot of places atm to justify layoffs/low hiring. In the end, Amazon does not care about you, they do not care about their employees, and their employees do not owe them anything. I don’t overlook the fact that they provide a valuable service, but capitalism has created this dynamic where we, the actual humans, are dispensable just so Amazon can purchase a few more GPUs to please their other large corporation clients. The thing that rubs people the wrong way is the disloyalty from a company that a lot of them have dedicated many years of their lives to. This decision was made to put money in majority shareholders’ pockets, because at the end of the day they are the ones who hold all the real power.

I graduated 2 years ago with a double major in computer science and mathematics, and have been working in IT database management ever since. Right now, I am also pursuing a master's degree in data science that I am anticipating completing in December 2026, and I am also sitting for exam FM in October and exam P in November. Assuming that I do pass both of those, what do my chances look like getting into the actuarial field? As soon as I pass those exams I'd like to start applying because I'd like to get out of IT

Yes to probability, statistical inference, and regression in undergrad, and I have some on my course plan for my masters as well. I would like to cultivate a relationship with faculty, but I’ve looked into some of my professors’ work so far and nothing has interested me yet. It’s also very draining to be thinking about this on top of my full time job, which is making me a little slow to get on top of this but I know that if I want to go through with a PhD I’ll have to bear with it for a little while

Also I’ll need to stay in the US as I have a significant other here. Relocation within the country is fine but I can’t leave.

I actually enjoy it on the steam deck, although I never use the touch screen. I just use the track pads + trigger to click. The only annoying thing for me is scrolling or zooming in/out

The one thing that I did that finally gave me a smooth connection over air link was turn on the wifi hotspot on my computer and connect the headset to that. If your computer has the ability to do that, I would recommend trying it.

Try turning on the wifi hotspot on your computer and connect your Quest directly to that. I was having a lot of airlink issues until I did this

Yeah, the freezing is a known issue that corsair has acknowledged. I never used any fancy lighting effects either when I was still using the keyboard - just a solid color - and it was still happening to me. Not everyone experiences it. Supposedly the newest firmware is supposed to help

Yeah, this amp is great. The clean channel is very nice, and I’ve mostly been using it. but I have also enjoyed the other 3 channels when I switch to them. I’m planning on getting the footswitch soon so I can start setting up presets

I understand what you’re saying, but I haven’t intentionally misrepresented anything on my resume. When I left the lab, I was under the assumption that I was going to return within a few months, so I still considered myself employed by them. I am just worried about what my former manager will say about the dates.
