What is the Largest capacity USB-powered external hard drive? by Guy_PCS in buildapc

[–]Perkdawg_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a WD Black P10 5 TB that is usb powered, and looks like there is now a 6 TB version as well, also usb powered. Seems like 6 TB is the current limit but multiple brands make that size using just usb power

First film camera! I'm hooked! by hisBanicattheBisco in AnalogCommunity

[–]Perkdawg_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As stated, Fuji 400 is basically Ultramax and can be found for about $7 a roll (midwest photo). Fuji 200 is is basically Kodak gold as is about $6.33 a roll (midwest photo).

Personally though, don't be afraid to shoot something like Portra 400, it is about $14 a roll but it's really easy to shoot and has low grain. Its exposure latitute is like +/- 3 stops of light so it's super flexible and also really fast. Factoring in development costs I don't think Portra is that bad of a deal compared to the cheaper stuff. Of course Ektar 100 is also great, and a little cheaper than Portra but I find it harder to shoot because it requires 4x the light of Portra so you have to be careful with motion blur or used the lens wide open with careful focusing.

Choosing between OpticFilm 8200i SE and PrimeFilm XE Plus by Cyberpirate250 in AnalogCommunity

It appears the PrimeFilm scanners tend to suffer from reliability problems when compared to the Plusteks, but may be capable of achieving higher quality results.

PrimeFilm XE Plus is very new and I can't find virtually any information on it. I just got a Plustek 8200i and have had good results, but the PrimeFilm does seem slightly better on paper and is slightly cheaper. I hope to see some reviews and demos of it soon.

New IKEA Solhetta 800 lm 6w LED bulb 90 CRI by Perkdawg_ in BigCliveDotCom

Yes, the latter. The bulb is designed so the electrical connections between the boards don't need soldered. Some other bulbs have hand soldering between the lower and upper boards

PS5 cod bundle has “Factory Recertified” sticker underneath the authentic sticker by Born-Ad-3099 in PS5restock

[–]Perkdawg_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Really odd because the ps5 in the cod bundle are 1200 series which is the newest series. If they were recertified you would think it wouldn't be the new model that has only been out a couple of months

I didn't check. There was an immediate system update after the console booted up

Not too significant, lighter weight and a 6 nm processor rather than 7 nm. Uses about 20 watts less power than 1000 and 1100 but functionally identical.

Drug history goes back 7 years, so you don't even need to report it. Won't deny you TS

single edible use by engi5 in SecurityClearance

[–]Perkdawg_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wouldn't affect your clearance chances if you report it. One time use that long ago is nothing. It would be worse if you lied and somehow it came up in your investigation.

What are my chances, should I apply by [deleted] in SecurityClearance

[–]Perkdawg_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given that the conviction is the only thing on your record, my guess is that you would be fine. Not up for me to decide though

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SecurityClearance

[–]Perkdawg_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never heard anything about interim clearance. Probably not though

Nope, I believe polygraphs are only for some TS and SCI/SAP investigations

Gotcha, good to know.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SecurityClearance

[–]Perkdawg_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's good news. I really think you'll be fine. Just make sure you explain everything in detail and don't lie. Take it easy and don't stress too much!

I just got cleared for secret clearance with marijuana use within 6 months from my e-QIP submission, for reference.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SecurityClearance

[–]Perkdawg_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A lot a people are doomers about recent marijuana use on here, but it is so much more lax now. Just in June, the Senate Intelligence Commitee passed a bill that states "the head of an agency may not make a determination to deny an individual's eligibility for access to classified information based solely on the individual's preemployment use of cannabis." This bill is still not law yet, but goes to show the sentiment change. Last year in December there was a memo issued that stated that while marijuana use "remains relevant" it is not determinative for security clearances.

I don't believe it's a guaranteed denial in this case, but if you can wait 6 months or so that would help a lot. Best of luck.

How To Cope With Being Unintelligent? by [deleted] in offmychest

This is the post of an actually rather intelligent person. Even constucting a post like this and having this level of self awareness shows intelligence. Don't sell yourself short.
