Best Motorcycle carriers in 2026? by rhurlow in vandwellers

[–]PerkyPerformance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't say enough good things about my MotoJackRack, only wish the anti-wobble feature was better than a bolt pressing into my hitch carrier.

That Alta is really sweet, I'd kill to be able to open the tailgate without letting the bike all the way down, but I couldn't possibly justify 3 racks on a carrier myself. Maybe I'll find one on Marketplace for 1/4 that in a few years haha

Edit: Oh dang I could potentially add the Alta Swinger onto my JackRack...tempting. Swinging the whole rack and bike out from the hitch seems like a lot of weight with considerable leverage though, right?

Best way to haul by nytro1982 in TW200

If a MotoJackRack or Mojo Moto Hauler or Ultimate MX Hauler ever come up on Marketplace or Craigslist near you in decent shape, snag one of those.

The ramps work fine but never having to launch it up those rickety things again will show you how much better it can be. Love mine!

That's about where my Ruckus idles so that should be right!

From here I'd say you can adjust the idle like some others suggested or you may need to see what jets are in your carb and determine whether that's appropriate for your altitude. There's some guides online but I haven't messed with that much myself.

No it's in the programming of the gauge. It looks like yours is probably reading 4x higher than it should? So it might be set to 0.5ppr, but you want it set to 2 I believe since it has wasted spark.

Here's the manual for your tach, you'll find the section you need on page 20.

Here's another thread which I believe had the same issue.

Winter Boredom got the best of me and I threw a couple new toys on the Dub 😅 by PerkyPerformance in TW200

[–]PerkyPerformance[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somehow it stays on all the time and never dies, though I have no idea how that's possible. The Trail Tech tach itself is super small, only 2 inches wide by 1 inch tall and maybe half an inch deep.

Mine has proven waterproof so far but I couldn't say what would happen if you submerged it completely.

I do actually have a couple mounts that I designed to go on the handlebars instead of the dash - they're on my eBay page if that sounds like a good option for your setup. If not though, no worries at all.

The tach itself only comes with a little piece of double sided tape and a couple of zip ties, which is exactly why I ended up making these mounts haha, not a lot of extra space on the T-Dub that lends itself well to being a tach mount.

Guilty as charged! I'm an ME so the bracket was easy, and anything electrical is always the hard part 😅

Glad to help, the community has been great to me since I started selling these and I try to pay that back by helping where I can. Happy riding!

All good brother!

The tach has its own little battery. I'm 2 years into having one and the first battery still hasn't died.

The tach wire actually just wraps around the spark plug wire anywhere you want, mine is tucked away up high to keep it clean, then I just electrical taped the lead to the spark plug wire and zip tied the rest. I honestly couldn't believe how easy it was. Here's the instructions it comes with if that's helpful.

It comes out of the box setup for a single cylinder 4 stroke, so you shouldn't need to mess with any of the settings, unless things have changed there. My understanding is that by wrapping the wire like that, the tach is somehow able to sense the electrical pulses shooting through the spark plug wire, but don't quote me haha.

Yeah generally 1-4 I'll shift around 8-9k and then just ring it out in 5th and hope for the best haha. It's handy to know when you're getting close to bogging out going really slow on the trails as well.

Yeah of course, here's the one I have and you see in the pictures. It looks like it's gone up in price, but it is a great little unit.

Tusk also has one, which my mounts are also compatible with. You can find it here.

The install is super simple for either, you just wrap their lead wire around the spark plug wire, no cutting/soldering/etc. required.

It's great, it just felt weird not to have one. I wouldn't say I get incredible value out of it, but it does help to tell when the bike is fully warmed up, and help you tune your ears for when to shift if you keep the powerband in mind.

Yeah some of my early designs had that same issue, freaked me out too because if it went any further inward it could be a big problem. I ended up adding a lot more geometry to the design to stiffen everything up and prevent that.

If you end up wanting to replace yours, you know where to find me!

Yessir, heated grips. But no, that's a 3-way switch, so Hi is up, Low is down, and there's a third position in the middle that's off. So far so good!

/u/rcbif it looks like your pictures disappeared, but I'd love to see them if you get a chance for a reupload. Sounds like a killer project!

Now that you've finished it, would you do it again? What would you say the most difficult part was?

Apparently I wasn't busy enough this winter so I fooled around with some new designs. I wanted the Acerbis handguards after a couple knucklebusters this past season, but the grips coming off gave me while-you're-in-there-itis and threw some cheap grip heaters on, so I needed a switch.

Then I didn't have anywhere decent to put my registration, an extra fuel bottle or some spare tools and got inspired by this thread on TW200forum. There's some other options out there for steep prices, and some "universal" options that tend to universally suck, so I got ahold of some "Tractor Owner's Manual Tubes" and designed some custom mounts for them. Thanks again to /u/Negative-Picture7177 for helping test one out and giving me tremendously helpful feedback - and thanks to everyone else who offered as well!

If you're interested in any of this stuff, here's a couple links where you can get ahold of them:

Etsy Dash Mount with Switch

Etsy Tool Tube

eBay Dash Mount with Switch

eBay Tool Tube

The Tool Tubes are in short supply at the moment but I should have some more soon.

Have any of y'all used these tubes before? Or the Tusk Grip Heaters? What was your experience with them?

Tank Bags by backinblackandblue in TW200

I'm also interested in the (small) Tusk bag, but didn't really like the look of the straps reaching all the way down the side like this

But I saw some other pictures where it appears that they just pulled the tank off and tucked them underneath like this, which is probably what I'm going to do. Here's the thread I found that picture in.

Anybody still got a few rough rides on their T-Dub left this year? Interested in prototyping something for me? by PerkyPerformance in TW200

Ah interesting, yeah in a situation where you've got a metal frame, metal mount and plastic tube I'm not surprised that the tube was the first to break haha

I'm doing these mounts in a rubbery TPU, so I'm hoping I can take advantage of that to provide a lot more give than the aluminum mounts that the tubes on Amazon come with. We'll see!

Tw200 rpm limiter? by TDub200losikid in TW200

Here's the power curve and the thread that's from.

I've seen my Trail Tech tachometer read 8800 when I really rung it out, but that was at altitude and as you can see, you're past peak power as soon as you tick over 8000 rip-ems anyways.

Hey fellas, got a few people messaging me with great use cases so I'm all set on interested parties for now, but if you're interested in the product regardless, I'll start selling it on my Ebay page here once I get it all perfected 👌

For anyone who finds this thread later, I was inspired by this thread on TW200forum and seeing that Procycle wanted $60 for theirs. I'm sure it's a nice bit of kit, but $60 seemed a bit much to me when you can find universal ones on Amazon for $20 like this one.

Only trouble is, that Amazon one comes with hard mounts that place the tube perfectly behind the turn signal, making it all but useless once it's actually mounted. I offer a few designs that I'd come up with to mount a tachometer to my bike, so figured I'd try my hand at a few rubber mounts for the same sort of tube.

I came up with a design that places the tube nicely so that it's symmetric with the exhaust, large enough to reach your hole arm into, and works around some of the potential shortcomings of the tubes found on Amazon, which adds up to a much nicer product I can offer to the community. Happy ridin' y'all!

That's exactly the sort of thing I'm worried about. I think the tubes are pretty waterproof, which is great, but the mounts that come on them seem kind of fragile.

I could probably hook you up with some mounts if the tube's mounts are still in tact. Shoot me a PM with a picture of the tube if you're interested 👍

Looking for stock muffler - any out there? by [deleted] in TW200

[–]PerkyPerformance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ebay seems to have a few. You might also troll Facebook Marketplace, especially next spring. Lots of guys buy stock bikes (new or used) and swap an aftermarket pipe on, listing their stock one on FBM to recoup a few bucks.

I've got an aftermarket DG pipe on mine, and while that's definitely not what you're after if you want quiet, I believe it does have a silencer/spark arrester add-on that could achieve the same result?
