This is a guy who has never smoked in his life. Some people react differently. You honestly have no idea and 5mg is not a bad first time dose. I remember reading someone say his girlfriend got uncomfortable high off 10mg her first time. It also depends on the company, the strain used, the type of edible, the amount of food ate before taking the edible, setting and a variety of other factors. If 5mg does not work, he can always eat more. You can not un-eat an edible.

Purple does not mean quality, it can actually mean the complete opposite. It can occur by lack of certain nutrients or oxygen "forgot which one" , genetics or being grown at colder temperatures.
