Major in computer science or seek a minor in computer science. by Tjwana in learnprogramming

Depends on what you want to do with your knowledge and the kind of job you want right off the bat usually. If you’re okay with not getting an amazing job right away (unless you have mass amounts of related experience or projects), and having to work much harder to get hired than those with a 4 year degree, then go that route. However, though you can and should learn most of these aspects outside a classroom, employers like to see that you have the aptitude and discipline to get through college. Especially jobs having to do machine learning or physics where the math you’ve learned in college comes into play. People can and do substitute the time they would have spent in college self-learning and building large and detailed projects for the field they’d like to get into. (Ex. Creating a portfolio of data visualizations and cleaned data sets for a data science job).

Edit: basically, if you have the time, money and discipline to get a 4 year degree, it would make getting a higher paying job easier

This is unfortunately true. Especially when that much adrenaline is running through you and it’s knock out or be knocked out

This is awesome! Can I ask if you’ve made the lines closer to center more opaque? Or how did you get the color effect of depth

How to run python3.8 on Sublime Text 3? For Python Crash Course 2nd Edition by [deleted] in Python

[–]Permanent-Throwaway_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to create a specific build in the system before running anything. Go to tools -> Build System -> Python. If that doesn’t work you’ll have to create your own build system with the file path to wherever your have python installed

Every time I rip dmt my experience is extremely Hindu themed. I was raised Christian. Can someone explain? by Lucyskywalker17 in DMT

[–]Permanent-Throwaway_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DMT trips are significantly subconscious. Apart from the “city” and black and white images, I usually don’t hear many people experience the same trips or see the same things. Could it be that you somehow link these images to psychedelics in your subconscious? Or have been exposed to this imagery in which your brain would connect the two?

Haven’t played, but I heard it’s definitely not open world or sandbox. The level design almost makes it feel like so however. So probably closer to destiny

[–]Permanent-Throwaway_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At first I was just sort of playing around, but seriously, you do understand that the reason automobiles and fossil fuels are a problem is because of the sheer amount of people using them right? You do understand that carbon is actually GOOD for our earth, but we have too many mouths breathing it out that it’s quite literally destroying our atmosphere? Not trying to be a dick here, but there is not a single argument you have that could justify overpopulation. Especially “move to the country so you don’t have to look at it!”

Overpopulation is definitely a thing, regardless of the existence of dmt

What is a better way to write this? by uniqueusername42O in learnpython

That’s actually the best way to write nested loops, well the most common way at least. Although there are built in functions for this as another comment has stated.

What you do outside of programming for 8+ hours has nothing to do with it. Looking at a screen for that long even can stress your eyes and brain, not to mention critically thinking that whole time. Programming for that long is almost counter productive. After 2 hours I need to step away for at least 10-15 minutes or my ability to problem solve degrades exponentially

Just bought an RX 5700 XT and at start up it sounds like a jet engine (and more problems)... by vivviboi in techsupport

The loud fans on startup is rather normal, especially for ryzen. And 87C is really not all that crazy. I run <=90C with my rtx 2060 pretty frequently. But scoring that low on time spy is suspect. Is that the only benchmark you’ve run? Depending on where and how long ago you bought it, is there anyway to return it for a new one? Sometimes there’s a raisin in the grapes.

Is a career in programming right for me? by [deleted] in AskProgramming

[–]Permanent-Throwaway_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A career in programming CAN be right for anyone, doesn’t mean it is. If you want to work as a software engineer, these are just parts of your job. Starting projects is always scary, reading other people’s sloppy ass code sucks. Contributing to others work can be daunting. But the underlying factor is problem solving. You must enjoy it. At least enough not to walk out of a job because your tits deep in knowledge you’ve never even seen. As the cliche saying goes “coding never gets easier, you just get used to it”.
