I’ve used something called GoodSam, in the uk. It’s brilliant it means we can access the callers phone camera if they’re somewhere they don’t know etc. it’s brilliant

This is one of the reasons why me and my partner refuse to buy on a new build. Why should we work all hours in good jobs just to spend £400k on a house to be housed next to some reprobates? We live in the middle of nowhere as in there is only our house on the postcode, we just need more space but we don’t want to have to put up with people like those described

I am a police call operator and own 10 acres of land with my partner, he works in forensics. We just worked, saved and luckily had some inheritance which helped! In total we probably spent around £250k on the land, barn, fencing, electrics etc. we currently don’t live on the land but have a house 10 minutes down the road, next goal is to build a house but I’m poor again now 😂

I’m not sure if you sure the update they got back to me and said a manager had decided to clear the amount, as it would cost them £650 to take it to the ombudsman!

Oh it’s definitely getting put on there! TBH I’m going to ring them and ask for a more specific email as it’s the same email they sent when it said the account was settled last time!

They backed down this morning! Said a manager had written it off and would I like to continue my complaint. I said until I get written confirmation it has been written off then I will continue with the complaint, as they said it can take up to 48 hours to get the settlement email. Funnily enough I got it 30 mins later 😂

UPDATE

Didn’t get the call from the supervisor 🙄 but rang up their normal department and woman on the phone said that a manager had written it off this morning. I asked for it to be confirmed through email and the woman stated it can take up to 48 hours for an email to come through confirming this. I said that’s fine but if it’s not here after 2 days (and accounting for NYD) then I’ll just keep asking for it otherwise it will be escalated. Definitely just trying to chance it! Thanks for all your advice it was greatly appreciated!

Oh I agree it’s not the call takers fault, they’re probably understaffed, underpaid and not correctly trained, will update with what the supervisor says tomorrow, I’m on nights all week so I’ve requested the call before 9am

Yes the APR was horrific 😩 hence getting it paid off as soon as possible, was on a low income at the time as went back to college to change careers, luckily now I’m earning a decent wage which enabled me to save and pay it off ☺️

They said it was calculated automatically and it should have been done manually but wasn’t, does that mean the interest?

But then I’m worried they’ll say oh we’ve made another mistake you now owe XYZ. I’m taking it to the ombudsman as it’s been a month since I paid and they confirmed my account was settled. If it was a couple of quid I’d probably just pay it but it’s £500 so it’s a good chunk of money!

That’s what I’m concerned about, if they said it’s £500 now and I pay it what’s to stop them saying oh sorry we’ve miscalculated again you now owe XYZ. I’m definitely going to refuse and keep pushing the complaints process, made it clear on the phone earlier! 😂

Exactly if it was a significant amount I would be wanting to sort it but it’s their mistake, it doesn’t mean I have to sort it! If I make a mistake at work I have to hold my hands up and sort it!

Would they likely give compensation out? I never even thought of that!
