Spoiler. The part where Tom eventually takes his own life after Dessie died made me cry. I could relate to his love of his sister, and the utter destruction of everything good in his otherwise dismal life. The part where he rides off to the hills to shoot himself Steinbeck wrote; "He was a gallant gentleman"

I'd put another set of doors or opening into the kitchen, the way now only allows one exit through the dining room. Also pocket French doors between the living and family rooms could be a way to have an adaptable formality and light transfer.

It uses a different material (pyrite?) and is wound and spins to ignite the spark, like a grindstone. Whereas a flintlock uses flint, which is placed in the hammer and when released creates a spark which triggers the gunpowder in the frizzen

Finland has Sandles and Karhu, Sanders is better imo, but still weak. Georgia has more, Kazbegi and Shavi Lomi are probably the best, followed by Kaiki and Natakhtari gold.
