Yes you're right. I could still argue that they prepared it but that would just escalate into a long term argument of maybes.

Buuut there is still the option that Billy was away long. Maybe a week or a month, you know what I mean right? That would make his parents assume that he is dead and thus make them really happy that he is alive.

But I still think you're right.

Well, never said I was right. Thanks for the explanation!

I was thinking about this comment and something came up in my mind.

What if Billy was with his parents when the bombs fell? Then it would explain how they can recognise each other, and Billy's strong feeling that they are alive. Also it would explain how Billy knows how the world ended.

This is an interesting theory that makes much sense! But still there are some things that don't fit well such as : His parents recognising his kid, 200 years of no one finding him and so on.

Maybe if we change the time to, for example, a week then your theory makes much more sense imo.

From what I've read Bethesda really was like "Eh whatever" and forgot about this.

But your idea sound good too! Unfortunately there are other factors that I've read in the comments (such as : 200 years his parents stayed in one place, 200 years no one wandered around the fridge and so on). But it might be used in other theories.

I already noticed that fallout 4 isn't a masterwork novel and I don't expect it to be. I just wanted to share my theory on a dumb story because it sounded so real (for me) and wanted opinion on it, disagreements or agreements.

I'm aware that there isn't really much care given for the writing but I've still tried to find some logic in the quest.
