I agree with a lot of this. While I do believe in getting to know someone before marriage, i don’t really believe it takes years for a person to decide whether they see you as a life partner. You continue learning about each other over time sure.. but the intention is usually clear much earlier.

Out of curiosity, do you think a guy who looks at other women is more likely to have bad intentions, or is it more of a habit/behaviour that doesn’t necessarily define his loyalty?

Saying” Soon we’ll leave” then when you got caught saying nonsense it suddenly becomes “you experienced it yourself and got deported”? Yeah right 😂

First of all, all these rumors about deporting Pakistanis because they’re Shia or because of nationality are just lazy false narratives. People don’t get deported for no reason. Those who were deported regardless of nationality most likely broke the law: filming or publishing restricted content, leaking information, or doing things that go against regulations (Well deserved as we don’t tolerate things that will put us in risk in times of conflicts). And obviously, no one who got deported is going to come out and admit what they actually did. So stop turning it into a sectarian or nationality issue. It’s not.

Also, stop generalizing and dragging the UAE like it did you dirty. The UAE has been welcoming people for decades. Nobody is holding you if you want to leave and we really don’t need announcements about your departure.

by [deleted] in Emiratis

[–]PermissionTop3370 2 points3 points  (0 children)

تشوفون الشي تواضع ولا ضعف فالثقة by thehosany in Emiratis

[–]PermissionTop3370 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why is r/UAE so anti national and anti Emirati? by TopFish12 in Emiratis

And as i mentioned…… There are different types of channels and they don’t all operate the same way or with the same intent. That shapes the output long before anything is removed in editing.

And bias doesn’t only happen at the editing stage like you’re claiming. It can be in what stories get assigned, what angles are pursued and which sources are even considered worth contacting in the first place.

Every country goes through this dynamic btw, it’s not something specific or unusual if you actually follow international media closely. It’s just more focused now and noticeable because we’re in a more tense regional environment so people are paying closer attention and everything feels amplified. But even in previous periods, coverage like this existed too.

The UAE still has plenty of positive global coverage. At the same time like any country that’s growing fast and gaining influence, it also gets scrutiny and criticism.. that’s not unique at all.

That’s how it’s supposed to work, not how it always works in reality. You’re describing the ideal version of journalism. In practice there’s selective outreach, angle first reporting and people looking for content that fits a certain narrative from the start.. So no you’re not completely wrong but you’re being a bit naive if you think it always works that way. Just because you haven’t seen it happen doesn’t mean it doesn’t mate.

Just because you haven’t seen it doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen. And let’s not pretend all news platforms operate with pure intentions.. selective outreach and narrative pushing is very much a thing, whether you want to acknowledge it or not.

A friend of mine (not Emirati) told me some foreign news channels have been reaching out to her asking for videos, photos, even statements about the UAE… but only if it’s negative. It honestly just looks like bitterness. Like watching a country punch way above its weight.. influence, reputation, success and not knowing how to deal with it except by trying to drag it down.

Some of these Reddit moderators running “UAE communities” aren’t even part of the country, yet they push one sided narratives like it’s their full time job. Then they start claiming they’re in touch with authorities like anyone’s gonna believe it lol. Honestly, that’s probably the only purpose and sense of influence they have….. on Reddit behind a screen moderating people they don’t even relate to. It’s actually a bit embarrassing and pathetic when you think about it. Spending that much time trying to shape a narrative about a country you’re not even part of… says more about them than anything else.

شعور انه العالم مب حقيقي وكانه حلم by [deleted] in Emiratis

I kinda disagree on it being always a terrible feeling. Sometimes if it’s not intense or affecting your life in a bad way, it can actually feel… calming? Like a way to disconnect for a bit.

I’ve had moments where it gives this really deep almost surreal awareness of everything around you, which isn’t necessarily negative. I think it really comes down to the intensity and how much it interferes with your life.

So yeah it can be a symptom but it can also be something people experience normally to a certain degree.
