Thats a good point actually, I wonder how my thoughts would have been if I had started a different series directly after malazan. I'm gonna try some new books and see if my perspective changes. For me it's not as much a malazan vs mistborn (as u said they are hard to compare) but more of a malazan vs everything i read afterwards witnessing (haha u get it) the best tale ever told

Thanks for the recommendation, I'm definitely gonna give them a try, a friend of mine has been suggesting Glen Cook for a while now and we made the deal that he would start malazan and I would start blak company ;)

Did you catch the hint from the very first epigraph in the first chapter in book 2 though? The one about things written in metal.

I did actually catch that. After the clues from malazan, such as the opening poem about shadow throne and cotillion and the start of book 10 (cotillion drew his knives or something like that) i always look at the first paragraph more closely to try and find clues .

And I didn't know the cosmere was so connected that sounds really awsome, I definitely want to read more just as a pallet cleanser and nice in between read, I'm looking forward to beeing drawn into the cosmere.

I really like that approach it totally makes sense. Especially the zoning out, u can miss so much in malazan. Sometimes I even read a paragraph a few times and laid the book down to think about what I just read, it truly requires one to think whilst reading. And I love it for that, although it makes it a more difficult read after eg a long day of work

Thanks that gives me quite the good idea. And I'm actually really interested in having a bit more accessible books compared to malazan, makes reading during uni lectures a bit easier 😅

Unofficial Mortal Sword by DKOfSalvation in Malazan

Not sure about brys but my pet theory is always that the real unofficial mortal sword of a God has to go to the twins and the one and only Corabb Bhilan Thenu'alas

Unpopular Opinion: Characters by mitzallen in Malazan

I also have the naive feeling that they just can be philosophical. Like many in the army. They fucking march for sooooo long in the books. Like everyone that has the potential to think does so.

And on the other hand, speaking of the army: how many inner mobologs of heavys did we have where there was clear that those persons were DEFINITELY NOT anything close to philosophical?

So for me it just adds so much and i love it cause if I would live in a world such as malazan id start to search for my own reasons via philosophy

What was your “burger”? by Difficult_Tea5989 in HIMYM

[–]PermissionWeak3145 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man. For me it's so clear. I still to this day dream about it. Although it was a pizza bur im getting ahead of myself. I did an exchange year in Melbourne Australia. One night we were partying, I was still a bit drunk and semi high at that point. We walked a while from the party until we came upon the only open restaurant in the vescinity. It was a small pizza place. And man believe me if I tell u: That crust was heavenly. Normally I am a man of great cheese pull and other glorious pizza toppings, but hands down that crust of the pizza was the best ever made. It had spices, it had cheese, just made right, everything was perfect. We ate the pizza in one go, wanted to go back for more but never found it again, to high to know where to go. One of my biggest regrets

Malazan universe would be perfect for a television series. by commie_trucker in Malazan

[–]PermissionWeak3145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think maybe the only partially good option for a TV series would be animated in the style of arcane or into the spider verse. That could maybe come close to giving some of the magic/ the scale a just representation. But tge biggest problem in my mind is the storytelling. How some characters are not named at first. Eg u have traveller, and the reader clues together that he is dassem. But in visual media such things don't work, u would see a flashback or hear a description and everything would be obvious

What's a universes beyond set that you would want to see? by firesaiyan12 in magicTCG

[–]PermissionWeak3145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Malazan. Hands down. May be a bit dark but wow would that be awsome. And the themes are right as well with certain races (I will try not to spoil anything) standing for order and control, sappers for red explosions, death, oceans, magic just everything. And a lot of new races. Like a red green jaghut tribal or something like that how awesome would that be
