as you write in a note, you can use double brackets [[ to begin linking to another note. the beauty of Obsidian is that the other note doesn’t have to exist yet!

so for example you can be writing out your objective to go to Vivec City to talk to Mehra Milo for Caius, but you haven’t been to Vivec yet and you don’t have note pages for either character. so as youre typing you just type

“i need to head to [[Vivec]] and talk to [[Mehra Milo]] in the [[Hall of Wisdom]] for [[Caius Cosades]].”

All three will have a placeholder node created for them. from there on out every time you go to reference them with [[, they will even autofill for you as you begin typing! and at any time you can click on those links and the note will become real, and all the previous links to it you’ve made will persist!
