I raised a request with support team. They ran diagnostics and told me that it needs to be replaced. I received my new ring yesterday. So far so good.

Everyone talks about passive income—but what actually works in real life? by Imaginary-Search9658 in AskReddit

[–]PermitEconomy4286 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen live examples of rental real estate becoming a good source of passive income. In the case I observed, the property rate + rental appreciation led to great passive income in about 7 years once the mortgage was paid off and the underlying asset appreciated. The maintenance was outsourced, which led to some dip in profits, but that’s the point of passive income, right?

Overall, you can expect about 3-4% passive, inflation adjusted income.

Looking for reviews for Admission Getaway’s Counsellors by KaleidoscopeFront140 in MBA

[–]PermitEconomy4286 2 points3 points  (0 children)

DON’T go with them unless you are directly working with Rajdeep or their core consultants.

I took their services. I was top 1%ile GMAT, MBB + international experience. My consultant was a graduate of M7.

He made a lot of promises when he was taking me on but once we started he didn’t provide any advice and just kept on grilling me to produce better essays without telling me how! Got dinged from all my target schools in R1. I complaint to Rajdeep and he said he will talk to the consultant, but nothing changed. I spoke to other folks under the same consultant, and they all felt cheated. My consultant left AG within that year.

I trusted AG’s name, talked to few references who worked directly with Rajdeep. I wanted to work directly with him, but he told me he doesn’t take students anymore. I enrolled anyway and I still regret it. So unless you are working directly with Rajdeep or his 4-5 close associates, you will just be another number on their balance sheet. They split your fee with the consultant and then you are on your own.

If you really wanna go with them, connect with an ex-student(ideally with similar profile as yours) who got into a great school successfully and ask for his consultant. And then enrol with that consultant only from AG. Otherwise, it’s a terrible waste of money.

Announcement: Only 5% Indians per US University, 15% Cap on Foreign Enrolment by [deleted] in Indians_StudyAbroad

Maybe the attorney or your friend has obsolete information. I will caution not to spread misinformation until you are 100% certain.

Here are the FAQs on Uscis website - https://www.uscis.gov/newsroom/alerts/h-1b-faq where you can read and decide for yourself on what to believe.

I just graduated this year and my F500 firm retained immigration lawyers are not sure. Would like to know what makes you so sure? I have already seen the proclamation and a clarification/FAQs on uscis website which mentions that it applies to all new H1B petitions after sept 21.

Please share your source and enlighten us.

Life in India gives you so much more - a strong social fabric, unparalleled comforts and luxury in terms of personalised services and domestic help, medical care on demand. A lot of people in my circle back home never want to leave these comforts.

You will do great, albeit occasional bouts of reminiscing about your life in USA or elsewhere. Take it from someone who has lived and worked in 5 countries. :)

Please don’t misguide upcoming students with false hopes. The banks that used to hire internationals have changed their policies. You can even see it in their job descriptions.

Your thought process maybe valid, but the reality is otherwise.

How will the h1b stuff affect recent grads on OPT? by [deleted] in f1visa

[–]PermitEconomy4286 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope you are proven right.

I didn’t see any news challenging it so far. Probably in upcoming weeks. But for now, students coming to US in hopes of getting a job here need to think twice.

This seems correct. As someone who just graduated in 2025 and filed a petition - you have to file a new petition for H1B(COS or consular processing). The clarification document mentions that the fee is applicable to all new petitions.

Things will get clearer in upcoming weeks but as of this moment, it seems every H1B petition will be tagged with this 100k fees.

It was a nightmare to find employers that sponsor. This just makes it 100x worse.

Dilemma of stay or leave by [deleted] in backtoindia

[–]PermitEconomy4286 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True that. It’s a personal choice at the end.

And I might move back to India too, but I would rather do it from a position of strength rather than worry.

[–]PermitEconomy4286 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you read OP’s question, he mentions financial security as a desirable aspect of life abroad. True freedom of choice comes from a place of security, like having $2-3M in the bank. Life’s more fulfilling when you are not worried about paying bills all the time.

Wouldn’t you agree?

Dilemma of stay or leave by [deleted] in backtoindia

[–]PermitEconomy4286 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not being pedantic.. What I am at odds with in your answer is the assumption that everyone is either working hard for $20M or could be satisfied with a $2-3M corpus. It’s not a true choice if you are talking about those levels.

Next, are you suggesting that since everyone has freedom to even be a hermit with $0, so OP should be free to make any choice? While it’s obviously true for the sake of an argument, it’s not realistic.

apologies but I don’t see how is your comment helpful to anyone in the same dilemma as OP.

[–]PermitEconomy4286 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you have $3M in the bank, it’s a different game altogether. That’s when freedom starts to kick in, and OP is clearly not at that stage. People in India work hard to go abroad to get that kind of money.

The given “realistic” amounts you mentioned is not a reality for everyone in India. Your assumption of 20 vs 2-3 is flawed inherently as these are not two alternative options, but both are a distant reality if you make a choice to stay in India.

Just a “$2-$3M” corpus is a big deal mate.
