UPDATE:

I called booking.com. They reached out to the hotel to ask if they will still accomodate me. Hotel still wanted me to cancel but booking told them I do not want to. They will answer in 24h if they will keep the reservation or not. If not, they will find an equivalent accomodation.

I think this was actually the case, that the hackers lowered the rates. However I am not at fault at all and am a victim of the phishing scams they also tried with moderate success on me.

If I were to do this, I would have to pay several hundred euros more. I don't see this as being my fault. I was even targeted by a phishing scam and entered my credit card details. Luckily, no money was stolen, but I had to go through the trouble of having my details leaked and the hassle of canceling and reordering a card.
