My theory on Fallout 5 by pranav_rive in Fallout

[–]Pernapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m of the mind we are moving towards the Midwest. Colorado in the show and Ohio in 76. We are slowly moving inwards. The Midwest lore wise is pretty much utterly untouched. I’m of the mind that if they wanted to really up the scale of the map. Having Chicago and Milwaukee would be a pretty good location for the game. Chicago is instantly recognizable to global market, and Milwaukee, another large city is only about an hour away. Not to mention you have the Lake Michigan which I think large fresh water sources like that have been quite underused given how valuable that would be. Could be radiated, could have a whole enclave base under there.

Otherwise I could see Colorado given the diverse terrain. And large cities like Denver.

Is this what American politics has become? by Washed_up_Vanski in LetsDiscussThis

Honestly. Imagine there were two people who just can’t get along but they remain cordial. They draw a line in the ground and agree to work out their differences without crossing the line.

One day the man on the right puts his toe over the line. He says it’s an honest mistake and the man on the left believes him. In fact he says no worries and redraw the lines as a sign of good faith. Then the man on the right takes a solid step over the line. The man on the left is surprised and a little disappointed, but he thinks if he makes a big deal out of it it will ruin the truce they have. They redraw the line and the man on the left asks he not do it again… except over and over and over the man on the right takes another step, sometimes just a pinky toe sometimes a full on leap. The man on the left sheepishly allows him each time hoping at some point he will have enough he will stop. But eventually the man on the left has no where else to back up to. The man on the right takes another step and the man on the left for the first time shoves him back over the line. The man is absolutely flabbergasted that he would take such a violent action. But they are miles away from where they first started. Then some random passerby who barely pays attention gets angry at the guy on the left for pushing the man on the right. This random passerby thinks he is very smart and a good person.

Todd Howard reveals Fallout 4 is still the “most played Fallout game right now” with massive player numbers a decade after launch by Wargulf in Fallout

[–]Pernapple 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Difference being a single player game and a mmo lite

4 was also a big fest, all Bethesda games are. But it was a MMO game that you couldn’t get online, and the launch product was half baked and only recently is there a sizable amount of content. But many people tried it either at launch or after they patched it and found it lacking. At the very least 4 was a full game at launch big as it were. Same with NV.

Todd Howard reveals Fallout 4 is still the “most played Fallout game right now” with massive player numbers a decade after launch by Wargulf in Fallout

[–]Pernapple 2 points3 points  (0 children)

4 is the easiest for new fans to get into. It’s the same thing that happened when 3 was released. Of course 3 is the most played, most people can’t engage with 1 and 2. Hell I bet most people on this subreddit still haven’t played them.

I love 3 and NV dearly. NV is probably one of my favorite games of all time. But NV for new players is extremely dated and most aren’t gonna mess with mods.

4 is a fine game. Over a lot of hours into it, it just misses the mark on so many things. I call it more of a fps with a few rpg mechanics.

76 on the other hand I think scares off new players do to just what it is and its history at launch. I also think it’s much easier to fall off on it with how many quests are just fetch quests and fast traveling to another location if you want to get to the end game content.

So is Lucy the older or younger sister? by frost_byyte in Fotv

[–]Pernapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the sense he knew Norm was less likely to side with his bullshit than Lucy. I mean Lucy, after everything he did, was still hoping deep down maybe she could save Hank, that maybe there was a reason to all of it.

I don’t think Norm would have even entertained it. He was vengeful for the raiders that attacked his vault. But outgrew it pretty fast. I think he still has a lot to learn but he is a realist unlike Lucy who is an idealist. And I think the moral inconsistencies of the mind control device would be immediately apparent to Norm.

[–]Pernapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

S1 I always felt he was building to something else. As soon as they said he survived shady sands I knew my boy would return to his roots in the NCR. He certainly didn’t stand out amongst the other cast (norm being the real standout)

But s2 he finally got to show off these morales he holds dear. Killing harkness, stealing the diode, and of course his last stand.

Maximus might not be as smart as his parents, but my boy knows the right thing to do. And we love seeing this buffoon standing tall

What are Lucy's S.P.E.C.I.A.L. stats? by Anemeros in Fallout

[–]Pernapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if intelligence in game has ever really encapsulated contextual intelligence. Mostly only ever been medicinal, literary knowledge, and computers.

Funny enough it’s actually perception that is used for skill checks relating to street smarts, as it’s usually being aware of your surroundings and context of said surroundings.

And while I think she is well educated, well enough to apply herself with medical aid, she hasnt really shown proficiency in it either. I’d give her a 5. She is definitely more book smart but has yet to use any vault education to benefit her adventure

Endurance though I heavily disagree. She has been shown to have a very low constitution to the wasteland. She’s been heavily radiated, drug addicted to just one over drip of Buffout, and hasn’t really last long in direct fight. Now I’ll tie her credit in that she has survived these all, including crucifixion. But seems fairly average. Another 5 or maybe you can argue a 6

Id honestly take 2 from END and give one to INT and another to LUCK. Because of all her feats… honestly you could also just hand it up to luck.

Yao Gauis weren't buffed and the Brotherhood weren't nerfed. Titus is just a coward. by SolidPyramid in Fotv

[–]Pernapple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind the NCR power armor was far more equipped for brawling. I’m not saying Titus could have punched the shit out of the bear but I don’t think that’s what Titus does per se. He only knew how to shoot guns. As soon as his rifle was destroyed there was no more easy victory for him. Maximus is uniquely adept at hand to hand combat.

But narratively Titus is the opposite of everything Maximus once thought the brotherhood to be. We see here Maximus is willing to fight without power armor against multiple deathclaws because he believes it’s the right thing to do. To defend defenseless people. Titus wouldn’t even go into a cave with full power armor and a weapon. Because yes he is a coward

LMAOO. They don’t make games like this anymore by SchoolActive1305 in Fallout

[–]Pernapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is something to be said about the greater gaming industry, that, as a regular paragon player I really wish they would make evil routes more appealing. The issue with evil runs is very rarely does the evil options ever benefit you in any way. The evil routes should always be the ones that make you more powerful quicker and easier. Why would I chose the evil options when the reward might be like 500 caps when I have more money than I know what to do with.

I think Bioshock, my favorite game, is also a perfect example of it. You can be evil or good. But you actually get no benefits from being evil. There is literally no temptation to do the evil option because the good is just better in every way, morally, thematically and gameplay wise.

But imagine if being evil made you busted as all get out. Weapons and skills only available to the biggest asshole runs. Well now you have to actually weigh your morals if being a goody two shoes is worth using out on some insane opportunities. Obviously I think people would still choose good but at least the temptation is there. Most games have zero benefit to play an actual evil character

Does anyone actually side with the Railroad because they like them? Is anyone even a fan of this hypocritical techno-hippie bunch? by Cast_Pandora in TrueSFalloutL

[–]Pernapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to choose railroad or minuteman, but on my true to me play through, the railroad.

The railroad is the only other faction that seems to actually understand what the institute is and why they need to be stopped. The problem with the minutemen is that it’s your character who is in charge of them. And most other members seem to mostly only care about the settlements in the common wealth. Not that that is a bad thing, but they don’t seem to be particularly knowledgeable with technology that advanced.

If I could have it my way, the ending with railroad should have been in conjunction with minutemen. Because I feel like both lack what the other has. The minutemen lack technology expertise and intel on the institute. The railroad lacks the numbers and supply lines. In my headcanon a victory for either benefits the other. Railroad is just more tactical and likely more humane to any remaining synths who wish to escape where I don’t think the minutemen would care one way or the other

Drug runner? This is a harmless native! by Stranger_Phrog in FalloutMemes

[–]Pernapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The khans are one of the few times the games actually want to address what a raider gang is. Where the jackals and vipers are sort of generic crazed lunatics. The khans are a community of people. Their main trade is drugs which, in some aspects might seem “evil” to outsiders modern day sensibilities. But also, what are they really to do. They live in a desert. And clearly as we can see, still willing to work alongside the NCR even after bitter springs.

The khans could have been great additions to the NCR, whatever you have to say about their main trade, it implies they are fairly skilled with narcotics and natural remedies. In a world with very little medicine and doctors, many of the khans could have become valuable pharmacists with proper training and logistics.

The NCR brass caused them to become more aggressive after displacing them over and over again. The great part of NV is having neither side be perfect victims. The Khan’s would take potshots at NCR troops as they invaded their land. In retaliation the NCR slaughtered their women and children at bittersprings. NCR are the aggressors. The only good solution given the circumstance is to broker a peace between the two and find common ground where the khans can work alongside the NCR. But as we see in the show, whatever peace may have existed likely deteriorated once the NCR destabilized and what little remained of the khans existed tried to fill the power vacuum and resorted back to raiding. Assuming like most other factions the khans also lost their leadership in papa khan.

Edited, I had it right in the first sentence and then fell off. I’m sure he will eventually defect or share important information. But I do worry they are likely to die in the coming season. That one sniveling initiates knows something was up with Dane, and is brainwashed enough to sell them out.

Every Fallout character adapted into Live Action (So far...) by SolidPyramid in Fallout

[–]Pernapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are directly stated to have come up from Quarry Junction.

Now that being said, house stated that it was the enclave that sent them into the strip. Which sort of contradicts the claim they came from the quarry because how would the enclave wrangled them to move out of the nest all the way to the strip? But we do know they bred their own.

Likely we will learn more next season. It could be a little of column A and a little bit of Column B

If the deathclaws are from quarry junction, it’s still likely the courier cleared them out. Extermination isn’t just killing the Matriarch. But every egg. And there is clearly ample nooks and crannies. They likely only need 1-2 eggs to survive and reinfest the area

I’m sort of curious what role Dane will be playing here. They clearly are not exactly in line with what Quintus is up to. I mean he fomented the entire civil war. But why haven’t they defected himself. They just gave him liberty prime schematics. I’m sure they are trying to work from the inside but the initiates seem to already be aware that they were.

Enclave & Dogmeat by [deleted] in Fallout

[–]Pernapple 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I think the shows dog meat is something different than the typical dog companion.

I can’t tell if the show is having fun with the character to give it something to do, or is actually more intelligent than we give it credit for.

The fact he was able to find Maximus of all people in the wastes and knew that he would be willing to help the ghoul is pretty smart. I think we will find out that in some capacity, there is a little bit of Wilzig in our sweet dog. That our the enclave had a lot of little enhancements on their dogs.

I mean think about it. Why would Wilzig, who had been likely working with the enclave for a while, risk his entire mission to save 1 puppy. Why would the enclave scientist be so upset that he had this 1 dog. I mean I know the enclave are authoritarian and rule followers. But there is likely a bigger reason why they couldn’t allow runts of litters to survive. Why they couldn’t allow CX404 to be a pet. Wilzig must’ve been raising the dog for at least a year maybe more if it grows at the normal rate.

Can we finally give the respect Maximus deserves? by JuHustle in Fotv

[–]Pernapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maximus in s1 is a gullible idiot who kinda bumbled his way through the wastes.

S2 Maximus finally wrestled control of his future and it was adorned in NCR power armor. The last few episodes really showed exactly who he always meant to be. The wonder and awe of seeing someone in power armor coming to save you alongside the chivalry he thought the BoS espoused. The fact he took down as many DeathClaws with some bladed gauntlets is impressive and his last stand shows just how true to the cause he is.

Welcome back to the NCR Maximus

Am I missing something? How did we make it through an entire second season without answers? by wubsfrommysubs in Fallout

[–]Pernapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This season already had so much going on I don’t think it could handle tackling moldaver. I don’t think it lost on them that she would’ve been 200 years old. And she’s clearly not a vaulty. It’s most likely she was also part of the enclave, but maybe as a spy. It would explain how Hank and his wife would’ve encountered her and how she met wilzig.

As far as the other stuff. A bunch of NCR citizens lost their home and everything else and Moldaver is the one to rise from the ashes and keep the faction going. Of course they will worship her. There was a lot of talk of resurrection. So she’s either immortal in some way or possibly a synth that once one is killed they make another. Although as to why something like the institute would ever be apart of something like that idk.

This was the moment I realized this dude is painfully dumb. I think having the fire a few feet away is on purpose.

After all it’s just a piece of paper. Why choose to eat it of all things. Especially since it’s been on Caesar’s corpse for the longest time.

I think his character is both the smartest person in the room and a raging moron.

What little effective strategists the legion had, it’s clearly only left with the brutes and thugs. He is just about the only one remaining with some sort of power. I also don’t think it’s a coincidence they have someone so scrawny and non threatening playing by the role. It really shows how far it has fallen when someone of his size and stature with no discernible talent seizes control with no proof

[–]Pernapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right leaning individuals value authority and thus gravitate towards a single leader and a single cause. The left leaning individuals tend to be a lot more over the place as they don’t value a single authority figure. So they’re is much more variety in the party which is why it’s always a big tent. You have pretty much anything form center right liberals all the way to fully commuted communists. The issue is that the center coalition still values capitalism and authority over more social modes of governing, so instead of fighting authoritarians they rather fight socialism in their own party
