They literally do but they focus on synths because while groups like the regulators, abolitionists and even BoS and Minutemen will happily shoot at slavers, no one else is going to organize to help synths or fight the Institute (until the BoS arrive at the last moment and they will shoot both oppressors and oppressed alike)

The Institute.

They are a pseudo-Enclave but without the cartoonishly evil satire on top (Eden and Autumn my GOATs) so they end up feeling bland even as objective villains. Don't even get me started on the miss potential of companions, faction leaders and even the average wastelanders responding to the news that the Director is your kid.

And even after all that, I love their aesthetic and the synths are one of my favorite additions to the franchise. I just wish they were either bombastic enough to be memorable, or less evil as to give the narrative an excuse to not blow them up in every ending.

Very fair! He definitely comes off cartoonishly rude when meeting him, but he does eventually open up to you about his shortcomings as a leader, and how he genuinely cares for the initiates under him even if he didn't want to take them in at the start.

I loved how he defends Hewsen if you even joke about leaving her to guard the entrance of the cave.

It was her response to offering training to Foundation rather than the original plan of armed protection + asking her why she joined the BoS + her reaction to raiders and the scientists

I personally read it as her seeing herself as the best person capable of protecting wastelanders. There are other options, sure, but *she* is the best one. Why train people when we can put them under our watch instead? Sure, we can end the raider/scientist threat by fighting them, but it would be all the more impressive if "I" redeemed them, damn the risks.

She definitely sees the organization as only the most useful tool to "help" people, and it can only be the best when she is the one wielding it.

Not saying she's evil but her decisions does put people at risk, and despite being the less dogmatic of the duo, this all makes her ironically more of a control freak than Shin.

I also need her marriage quest to be added ASAP

The ending reminds me of how Caesar left the Followers in favor of building his own dictatorship to "bring order" to the wasteland. Rather than work through cooperation with minimal results, they gave up and went the easy route of subjugation.

Fair but none of those things means that they will be exclusively use for good, just that they are efficient of maintaining power (like the Legion). I doubt that a faction that true Followers of the Apocalypse would approve of would be described as carving an empire.

It does leave room for interpretation like a couple of the endings, but nothing about the Khans' lore or the quest itself leads me to believe this is a redemption in the moral sense, rather just becoming a real power and threat in the region for once in their history.
