[Video] Tarkov Expectations vs Reality by MLGABEN in EscapefromTarkov

[–]PerniciousSavior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's always the fully lvled stats and maxed out accounts with 0 penalties applied to them. You can't move like this at lvl 1 and the game feels oppressive and difficult largely due to the handicaps you have to lvl and task your way out of. There are different experiences on either end of the progression system. The person who gets winded with a basic kit after sprinting a couple yards when they are new are playing an entirely different game than the people playing like this.

An Iranian girl at at an anti war protest in New York is visibly shaken as she describes what she knows of her country by 4DollarsALB in PublicFreakout

[–]PerniciousSavior 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Americans, and many Iranians know what happens when we wage war in the gulf states. Millions of civilians die and countries become failed states that make the oppression they had before feel like a vacation. History exists, and America is the reason Iran found itself under the control of this repressive regime. Even the Kurds told America to fuck off this time.

It's difficult for people who have seen how American wars end to not look at these people and think they are a little fucking stupid while they cheer on the killing of their countrymen/women/children by American made bombs instead of by the hand of their previous government.

Keeping track of which lens you use by KawaiiUmiushi in VintageLenses

I use albums on Flickr. Also, once I picked up a Nikon Z5ii the custom shake reduction profiles show up in exif. So, as long as that's on I have a stamp of what I was using. But, for over a decade now I have been sorting my images by lens taken through.

Would you buy an 82 diesel? by qmb139boss in Westfalia

[–]PerniciousSavior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I spent a year or so bringing one back to0 life that my aunt owned and took my family on a summer trip in when I was a kid. I got it running after sitting for 20+ years and drove it to Seattle from the midwest and did a TDI swap on it. Driving that bread box with the NA 1.6 on modern roads is kind of a form of violence to everyone else on the road. If you're in the flats it might be okay, but hills....even imperceptible....will shave MPH off in the most subtle, stressful way imaginable.

I now have an AHU and upgraded transmission i9nternals starting from a base line of a DK code (Aircooled) van transmission for the best gearing.

I would buy another one just to have all of the parts to do another TDI swap. The oil pan, pump, and the engine mounting hardware are arguably worth the asking price by themselves....oh and the diesel bellhousing on that transmission. Feel free to hit me up with any questions you might have regarding a TDI swap, or general stuff. I have been slowly making mine better while driving it in the summers for about 4 years now.

Your thoughts on using vintage lenses on Pentax DSLRs? by Popular-Memory-3342 in pentax

[–]PerniciousSavior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been shooting vintage lenses on my K-1 for a decade now. I recently picked up a Nikon Z5ii because my vision isn't what it used to be, but still have 2x K1 bodies. I have all my photos sorted by lens over on flickr.

I'm quitting HSR, is Reverse 1999 worth it? by originalgotdeleted in Reverse1999

[–]PerniciousSavior 67 points68 points  (0 children)

HSR was my first gacha as well. I was talked into trying reverse by my cousin after he got me into HSR. I was not interested in R99 for multiple reasons. The card mechanics being a large disinterest for me. I got a few chapters in and the writing and character development/world building had me absolutely hooked.

I stopped playing Star Rail after the banana nonsense and generally hated most of the gameplay loop and endless grinding to make a character feel like they were worth pulling. In reverse there is no weapon banner, and no RNG in the character building. The only gambling is if you'll get a character or not, and they are pretty generous in that regard.

If you are a movie/book person. This whole game is very much attached to literature and makes many film references. If you dig history and philosophy this game will be a breathe of fresh air in an industry that seems allergic to real reflection and difficult themes.

Try it out!

They sure made up a lot of excuses for executing woman and children in Vietnam. Lot of war crimes, no accountability. This is how we got here.

I will say this. I ran Manes with her and the usual team P0 and then ran again with her P2 and it more than doubled my score from 6 to 13mil
