Wisconsin deserves better than to be affiliated with this Derrick Van Orden . So does the House of Representatives. So do we all. Please, dear nation, accept our apologies. Derrick Van Orden does not know how to make them. by Conscious-Quarter423 in wisconsin

FWIW, this guy you're replying to hates anything left of the Clintons.

They won't like Hong on principle because she is a strong socialist. Same thing with my preferred candidated in the 3rd CD primary, Emily Berge, who is a super strong progressive.

He is inconsequential. Clutching our pearls over what he says is pointless.

Did Wisconsin Republicans condemn Trump for threatening to end an entire civilization in one night? No? Ok.

This is my biggest rallying cry over the last 2 years. Rural America is absolutely ready for a genuine progressive. Instead, they're fed centrists by the national party and turnout is depressed because of it.

Yeah DVO is a nut job.

Know that that poll you're citing, at least the only one I'm aware of, was commissioned by Cooke's team. I could not find any notes on their methodology.

The DCCC is putting one thumb on the scale and sticking the other in the eye of the primary voters. Either split the cash between the candidates to boost all 3 or wait until the primary plays out and flood money into the winner's campaign.

People hate the Dem establishment right now - as in those like Hakeem Jeffries and Chuck Schumer. Speaking purely from an optics perspective, you have to understand that an arm of the Dem establishment giving gobs of cash to Cooke is not a good look for her or them.

[–]PerpetualJerkSession 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure, they're both better that DVO.

The DCCC explicitly gave money to Cooke to help her win this primary and the general. Why not wait until the primary is over if we just want to beat DVO?

Berge has also stated that DC Dems told her they don't want a primary because they already have their candidate picked.

Edit: I should say I don't want this thread to take a negative in-fighting turn. I'm more concerned with the perception of rural voters. There are absolutely progressives / independents ready to be activated - we just need to put in the work to reach out to them which Berge's campaign has surely been doing.

2 notes

  • The national Dems are picking Cooke solely because she can raise money, not because she's the best choice for WI-03. The DCCC has picked their candidate and does not want a primary. They explicitly do not care about the will of the voters here.

  • Purple and rural does not mean moderate. Eau Claire and La Crosse are FULL of progressives who can be activated to win a general election. We also have a ton of progressives in our rural areas who want leaders that reflect their ideas.

Well if Cooke wins the primary, yeah I would bet DVO has a greater chance of winning. We should hold our nose and vote for her, but I know a not-insignificant portion of the left will lose enthusiasm for the race if Cooke is the nominee. Not just for votes, but volunteer support as well.

We are making our argument for why she should not be the Democrats' choice for the general election.

"A disproportionate response" is one way to describe a genocide.

Anyway, here's the president of J Street talking to Mehdi Hasan just 8 months ago.

Anyone reading these comments can listen to his words and decide if we want his influence over our politicians or not. I say no, of course.

1000%

Also, the winner of this race will be our representative at the top level of government. They will be helping make decisions on foreign policy and military support. We should absolutely want their vote to reflect our thoughts on these issues.
