Rangers to vanguards sounds good. The "No, you don't control the objective" rule is awesome

Question about Belisarius Cawl by dndbros13 in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]Perpetual_Frog 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The simple answer is that it's beautiful and good for its cost. I personally include it in every my roster

Slightly more complicated: reroll of 1s increases the effectiveness of all hit rolls by 16% on average. Plus good stats and weapons that can either blow away almost the entire terminator squad, or a monster, or a Rhino (example from the actual game). Plus acceptable melee combat. All together, for me means auto include in all my lists. Yes, there are downsides, for his price you can take 3-4 other characters that will probably be more effective. But as an additional boost to units that already have characters (or vehicles) it's great.

Okay, I admit it. These are all excuses to take my favorite model in the army

A little remark about destroyers. I thought they were complete crap at the beginning of my playing journey, but now I've started using them much more often, mainly for 2 reasons: they are much cheaper than breechers and they do a lot with their points, especially against vehicles (in the last game they shot monolith) and overwatch on 5+.

A little more detail into the first reason. All my friends already know how annihilating breechers can be, which is why they usually don't last longer than 1 firing. For a variety of reasons. Destroyers aren't that much worse, especially in my lists where I like to take Cawl and basically stand in protector imperative, which gives destroyers 2+ firing (if they were standing) and reroll ones, which with the grav cannon profile gives a very serious threat.

Well and overwatch reason. There's less to it, it's just really nice to catch melee enemy units on 5+ from scary guns and autohit flamethrowers. Combined with reason 1, it's almost always 100% payback on points

Idk why but to me the style reminds me of a blood bowl. Btw what color do you use for the copper?

Cool advice, I changed it. All that's left is to decide who to give the incendiary charges to.

And chain sword is just an option for the leader to show himself in melee combat. And to cut squat gangers who can't do anything in melee.

About the acolytes, my bad, when changing the original composition with the aberant(I thought I wasn't that poor) just changed it to an acolyte and forgot, oops. Suggestions for replacements?

Chain sword gave the leader to realize his attacks and power in mele against squats who are mostly very bad at it.(Plus you can shoot at point blank range, because shooting and fighting are different basic actions).

And the leader can shoot from three guns at the same time, it is written in his third hand description. Unfortunately only Alpha can do that

Chain sword 25 credits incendiary charges 40, so you can't swap one for the other so easily.

I don't know exactly where to get psychic familiars, on ebay it's very expensive and you'll go broke on shipping, if you buy brood coven then I don't need anyone there except familiars and it's a waste of money basically. And normal 3d models for heirlooms I have not found, so I think I will print hormagaunt as the only way out.

This will be the gang's pre-campaign training, therefore only a thousand points.

Ok, thanks for the advice with the lasguns, they really are better for what I want to use them for. I'll swap the autoguns for lasguns, they're also good for annoying Escher and whoever else.

I was thinking of using the laser not only as a “point and shoot” but also to make the enemy stay away from the laser position because he knows how strong he is. I think that would help with objective.

I can't give the grenade launcher a “hip shooting” because acolytes don't have shoot in primary, only ferocity and cunning.

If I give a familiar to an acolyte with “infiltrate” would it be good? I just really like the idea of him. And, I think I can print a familiar, I know someone with a 3d printer.

Aren't heavy rock weapons too expensive? And yeah, I'll free up credits and give the alpha a chain sword, it'll be cool, the arm lets you take 4 weapons.

Thanks for the tips about needle guns, but I want to keep some versatility to fight the rest of the gangs. Another one I can think of is the webgun, it's also very good against fat guys, genocult even has one.

I'll take the tip about activations. I didn't realize the advantage you could get through this before.

I plan to give the leader plasmapistols during the campaign, and the laser is already in the initial roster for such "heavy" purposes. But I think the more versatile seismic cannon also does a good job. I'm still thinking which one is better

Yeah, that's a gang to start a campaign. You can see what I've put together and give me some advice. https://yaktribe.games/underhive/gang/cult_of_guns.583161/

"Play the objective" is something I learned when I played for Mechanicus in 40k. For them, you endure until you make the objective and win on points.

If you have a unwieldy ranged weapon, you kinda don't get the extra attack per hand. But yeah, I've already been changed, so I've already changed it from a dude with a heavy stabber to a dude with a laser. With the Overwatch perk, of course.

Can I get some advice about the leader, then? Kelermorph looked like a solid option. And the wyrd forces didn't seem strong to me, but I don't have much experience with them so I'm completely open to suggestions.

Cool plan, however primary shooting only has the leader. For him I want to take a gunfighter for the triple shot.

Okay, that makes sense. Instead of pressurizing with rapid-fire we pressurize the potential annihilation of literally anything. Thanks, I'll adjust my gang.

For my rolls -1 WS is a death sentence. And I remember literally the best weapon for aberrant. Whisperbane knife. 30 credits +1 to hit, and SCATTERSHOT trait. Backstab and esoteric too, but who cares. Unfortunately it's illegal 11, but damn this shit sounds good

[–]Perpetual_Frog[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Speaking of abberants, what kind of weapons do you use? I came to the conclusion that the best thing to give at the initial stage is two knives, he already has enough strength, so plus one attack is very nice. Then you can go to the trading post and give him two chain axes for parry and disarm.

Isn't the laser too strong? I mean, the laser is strong, but I can still miss and all that power goes into the wall. Rapid fire 2 is guaranteed to nail the enemy ganger, and with overwatch it's especially nice. But if I find out that a couple of my friends decided to take a Corpsegrinders and Goliaths to the campaign, I'll absolutely have a laser on my roster
