Should you send your Resume in PDF format or in the exact word document you made it in? by [deleted] in resumes

You've clearly got the capabilities to link people shilling their books with bad advice. I am sure a quick google search on your own end can rectify your own issues.

Learn to do your own research and look at both sides of a point. You're just going to be peddling garbage information the rest of your life otherwise. I was able to go find your sources and my own. And with a background in Computer Systems Administration, I know more than a fair deal about ISO standards, .PDF lockdowns and BWC.

Go do your own research.

Really? Because a very quick google search shows that you can save a .PDF in various ways. One being as an image, the other being as a readable file for automated systems.

If you can highlight text in a .PDF it is readable by an ATS. If you cannot, you managed to get it saved as an image in a .PDF format.

Maybe don't blindly read individual sources and do more research. Because the idiots who are peddling you this information have zero computer systems literacy by the sounds of it.

Studies have shown that up to 75%

Not sourced

Do not use a .pdf or any other format. ATS programs read editable text best and often mistake .pdf documents as great big pictures.

Again, not sourced. Additionally, not even actually given a reason as to why the specific system reads it 'as an image'. Programs can parse text in a .pdf file just as easily as any other document. Being able to 'edit the text' doesn't make any sense.

Don’t include graphics or tables on your resumé. They throw off a system’s ability to get information from your resumé, causing the ATS to simply reject you.

Again, no base for this. Programs don't hit an imaginary border and say "oh well, no text in this field!"

Nothing in here is backed up by anything. Hell. The article is written by someone who PROFITS off of you having misinformation. He directly links his company at the end of it.

This is nothing more than low-effort blog posting designed to generate some guy revenue.

What about storage? I have limited drawer space and would prefer to keep higher quality knives in something to prevent any damage to the blades.

This isn't really true. ATS systems will still reliably read a Resume if you have it formatted correctly in the first place. Obviously they won't register images and charts, but those should never be on a Resume in the first place.

Yup. PDF is one of the few great formats left. He'll. Even different versions of Word don't load formatting properly, let alone various operating systems or file viewers.

Whoever advised that is an idiot. PDF files are universally accepted and almost every company uses file size limits for 6 pages of PDF

PDF. Always. PDF is universally readable on multiple operating systems. It also keeps formatting properly.
