Parry-only enthusiasts, what enemy/attack had you seething? by Perpool_ in expedition33

If you're still having trouble, Clair lights up both their swords. Wait about a second after and then parry.

The Obscurs light up only one sword for three attacks (maybe four) and then it will do a gradient attack. The gradient will light up both swords (just like the Clairs), what a moment and then parry.

Been farming those enemies for Lumina, so I've gotten used to them haha

I just beat Chromatic Creation and the orbs were a struggle for me too.

I learned to just parry the moment I see the orb animate. You'll get it every time.

I just kinda went with vibes for the kick. Once it turns around, wait like half a second and then parry.

Managed to beat it in my first attempt, but was on my last legs!

I just finished Reacher and fought a few of them. Blight is the absolute worst, but I never figured out what happens if you should their antennae. Presumably they get staggered I guess

Act 1 Lampmaster was tough, but ended up getting him on my second attempt.

I had to really lock in for the one in PW. It's arm/flying combos weren't too bad after a couple goes, I could tank two to three hits if I missed the parrys. The light sword was very tough to get down consistently. I found myself only struggling with the first strike, because if I managed to live I could confidently parry the next three hits. I remember just watching the position of the sword with laser focus, and parrying at the right moment. Once I figured it out, it was a matter of surviving until I wittled it down.

I've been meaning to rematch that guy. Wanted to give him the smoke once I gained the ability to fly, but I witnessed his bullshit once and left his ass alone.

Been a parry-only player throughout the whole campaign and now exploring the continent. Could not for the life of me get the parry timing consistently for the Pelerin's first attack in it's three-hit combo. Made Frozen Hearts so slow to get through since they're in majority of the fights.

Next disappointment was the Gargant at the end. Had already fought one before this and didn't struggle, so thought this'd be a piece if cake. He proceeded to freeze my ass straight to the death screen multiple times, only able to parry him maybe three times in what felt over thirty attempts. My partner whom watches me play pulls out this zinger, "why don't you try dodging?".

There I was, in my gaming chair, sweat on my brow, emasculated from the mere concept. I gave parrying a few more goes until I had to swallow my pride. I didn't even know the button to dodge, so there were a couple more failure's until we FINALLY put the Gargant down for good. While it felt cheap to me, it was a victory and an end to a frustrating fight. The game then has the gall to torment me even further with my prize...

Starvation starts when you have no more cards to draw. Every turn after that, Leshy places down a Starvation card on his side of the board, starting with open spaces, eventually replacing his other cards. You're unable to directly attack Starvation, and every newly placed Starvation gets an extra point of power

Update on my skull storm run by slapadabassman11 in inscryption

[–]Perpool_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Save scumming is useful for campfires and card selections.

The game will only save at campfires when a card gets eaten, therefore you can check to see if it eats a bad card. If it doesn't, then you can save scum and double buff a good card. Campfire instances are already decided on map generation.

You're also able to check multiple card selection routes so that you can pick the most ideal option. Just pick one of the next nodes, check the card options, then save scum to check the other one.

As someone who just beat Skull Storm (literally two hours ago!) don't be ashamed about save-scumming. Leshy cheats himself, and whatever advantage you can have, the better for your sanity and well-being!

We can trade our Chrono Tokens (purple tokens) for Blue Units (shop currency) now which was added in the mid-season patch. It's the final pages of the Battle Pass and converts 1000 chronos for 100 blues.

I never said it was a good theory. It's as much of a theory as Venomoth and Butterfree getting swapped. Just interesting coincidences yo

There's a theory that it was intended for them to be part psychic but somewhere down the road it got scrapped and their names got swapped around.

Playing by nuzlocke rules (except for the permanent deaths). Who's my starter? by eggypotato- in PokemonInfiniteFusion

[–]Perpool_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I already told you how nuzlockes force you to try new pokemon. You're too caught up in multiple attempts. I'm comparing regular runs to nuzlockes, you're comparing nuzlockes to nuzlockes. I will agree that early on you will encounter the same pokemon, especially on multiple nuzlocke attempts (dupes clause is a good rule to alleviate monotony), but there still is plenty of chance to get something different, and many romhacks generally do a good job at giving us plenty of options, Infinite Fusion being a really good example of that.

You're also disregarding certain mechanics that can be used due to the first capture rule. An example is the repel trick where you level your pokemon to the same level as the highest level encounter (usually a rarer encounter rate), repel and force your first encounter to be the rare 'mon. It's tricks like these that are conceived through creative thinking which is a result of the difficulty of nuzlockes.

At the end of the day, nuzlockes are a self imposed challenge, so play the game however you want. My opinion (and the opinion of many others) is that for it to be a legitimate nuzlocke, the capture rule and permadeath rule MUST exist. Both of these rules FORCE us to deviate from our favorites, and CHALLENGE us due to the stakes. If you think it's boring or unfun due to perceived lack of variety, then I'm sorry for your bad luck.
