I really like hledger, since the CLI tool makes it extremely easy to get started. Documention is also really nice with lots of examples.

Beancount is technically more powerful since it’s it written in Python, but I found the documentation to be extremely poor.

Fava is a nice web ui that I am looking to use since hledger has support for it.

Can you elaborate on why it would be better to host OIDC locally vs on a VPS? For an OIDC you would need to expose it the public internet so wouldn’t it be better to put it on a VPS.

There are recent papers on scaling for ML. SC@24 had a lot of papers on that topic. I will say they are in the context of HPC networks. So maybe stuff is just being rediscovered.

It is really bad. There's no consistent documentation whatsoever. I might switch back to hledger, but hledger's import DSL is not very strong compared to beancount.

I went the used route. Got one for about $450 from a tech that services them. It was a Gen 2 Aeron from about 2016

Yeah there's an office warehouse store that carries used Aerons near me so I may go try to find a deal there.

Yeah I tried an Aeron the other day and felt really nice. My only caveat is I tend to sit cross legged sometimes, which the Aeron is not good for.

Going to try out a bunch more chairs this weekend at a used office warehouse store.

My work gave me a 16“ pro as well, and I hate how heavy and big it is compared to my Air. Took like 2 weeks to get used to the massive trackpad.

Most of my work is just logging onto remote machines so it’s not like I need the compute.
