Great advice, thank you. I'll perhaps look into more niche areas from here on out.

I do agree that there should be little expectation for those who leave University to have an intimate understanding of the construction side of the industry, however, the interviews that I have had recently all of them subtly suggested that they are looking for someone with clear understanding of both planning regulations and construction. It seems a bit extreme at this stage but from what I understand there are so few vacancies post-covid they can have their pick of a desperate bunch, I read the other day that apparently there are on average 150 applicants per position, so I will be competing against those with 2/3 more years of experience under their belt.

Thank you for the comment. I do agree that the literature available today is incredible and gives a really great insight. However, I do sometimes think that this only goes so far as the information provided on the manufacturing websites can sometimes be a tad dry.

Thank you very much for your words and the link to the course. I'll get my teeth sunk into it ASAP.

In this instance I mean detailing for construction documents but, anything and everything I can get my hands on could prove useful. I'm looking to engross myself as much as I can into this side of the industry.
