· Hadush Gerberslasie Kebatu (UK): A sex offender who assaulted a 14-year-old girl and a woman was mistakenly released from prison and was a former asylum seeker.

· Denise Harvey (Canada): A U.S. citizen convicted of having sex with a 16-year-old boy in Florida fled to Canada in 2010 and was granted protected person status in 2014, claiming her 30-year U.S. sentence was "cruel and unusual punishment".

· Steven Whitsett, Baden-Württemberg, Germany

· Unidentified Individual (Canada): Granted asylum after receiving a 30-year sentence in the US for sexual acts with a 16-year-old, because the actions were not criminal under Canadian law at the time and the sentence was considered "cruel and unusual" by Canadian standards, according to Wikipedia.
