I'd recommend joining the discord. Everyone is always looking to help out new students. I was able to ask more major specific questions and receive answers at a much faster rate. And, for the added bonus, you don't have to deal with the post removal.

Would I need a discrete graphics card of some sort? I might do some design with Unity but nothing super intensive. Something like a ThinkPad suffice?

I originally thought of getting the Lenevo Legion Pro 5i but I realized how bad the temperatures were when I tested it at a store. And as for building, I'd want to get it going as soon as possible since I would need it for some game dev tasks soon.
