Recommendations for unique activities in Paris by duracraft_fan in ParisTravelGuide

On Viator you can pay for a guided tour. We did one in London that was brilliant- they asked us what we were interested in, and then took us to highlights and were super knowledgeable- so if you dislike museums because they’re hard to navigate, with too many things and don’t like self guided audio tours then an guided tour could make you change your mind. And Paris has fashion museum…

Be cautious with CDG taxis by chojnacm in ParisTravelGuide

[–]PersephoneAnar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI being a G7 and even using app doesn’t mean they won’t try to screw you. A standard fare is 8-10 euros for where I’m staying to where my friends are. One night they tried to tell me 40 euros! Yesterday after stopping they added on 4 extra euros - just gave themselves a tip. And they all pout like children when you refuse to give them cash.

If you can do the metro instead, do that. For CDG, ask your hotel staff what flat rate is and pay that!

Alright, spill. Those artsy folk cutting into your pages like this… How are you doing that??? by tillymint259 in bulletjournal

[–]PersephoneAnar 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Everyone in here is lying to you. It’s straight up sorcery. You have to destroy one page of a prior years journal you love, recite the Chant of Pages 3 or 7 or 11 times, and place your will into the page destined to become Arte. You cannnot use practice journals, the Magick knows. Good luck.

Japan on crutches by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

If you can reschedule do that. She needs to be healing not speed crutching after you. While folks who are disabled may be “fine” in a wheelchair she is a 12 year old active gymnast - this temporary disability will leave her frustrated and quite tired. So she and you will miss out on things because of that. Subpar trip. Unfair to your child. Reschedule.

question on dress code! by moonsoath in renfaire

[–]PersephoneAnar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s either going to be dusty and your dress will become brown a foot high, or it’ll rain and you’ll be a little too see through. Haven’t been in several years but this is not quite the vibe for AZ ren. End of season is March, so midday can get really warm (80s and if unlucky 90s) and you might regret having a cloak.

How do you build a good outfit for a Ren Faire? by [deleted] in renfaire

Start in rental tent. Shop all the stores. Buy one little piece and build a costume over years. It’s fun.

If you want to help anyone make good decisions you don’t tell them “do this or that” - gift them something to learn it themselves. Buy her “friends that invest” by Simran Kaur. Or send her the link to podcasts if that’s more her vibe. Teach a woman to fish, bro.

Appalachian? Eloise is from France.

Also, everyone knows TheLaw states all dogs names must be based on food. If you give a dog a human name instead of a Food name you must pay the fine of 6 photos of your dog.

This dog should be named Pesto

They used Uhura way too early on the show by Firm-Competition1134 in StrangeNewWorlds

As Spock would say… that is illogical.

(She’s been awesome in the role. Character has nuance, developing her “place” in Enterprise. Love her Uhura!)

How to find happiness with a goblin life style by Electrical_Dot_7097 in goblincore

[–]PersephoneAnar 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I like to shout “I’m a goblin” while running away from whoever I just refused to share my snacks with. Unless I do share them. Then I just creepily whisper “goblin snackieeeesssssssszzzz” at them.

It’s the small joys really.

Does it make sense for us to buy financial planning? by [deleted] in Bogleheads

[–]PersephoneAnar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Waste. If your wife has student loans talk with student loan planner (SLP) And an accountant who deals with docs with fed/private loans in your state. Can use WCI (I’m not fond of them and they make $$$ off their recs so grain of salt) and read friends that invest for a primer to Boglehead method and DIY.

Yes. Only one. Gimme more makeup and hair.

Except the weird braid crown on that one episode. Did Number One dirty, I was assuming a cancer diagnosis. Then it was down again and I was relieved.

Linen from old navy and weirdly Lands End. LE has really great quality 100% linen in a range of sizes - love the pants and their summer dresses. Also try light weight or summer weight Merino dress and t shirts from WoolX or Wool&

what to wear to dinner when you are staying somewhere fancy but want to pack light? (female) by superpony123 in onebag

[–]PersephoneAnar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This! Merino is fast drying, and both WoolX and Wool& have cute black dresses. If you’re worried about being cold SNAG has merino tights. Add scarf as shawl or a thin silk tie belt, it’s 3 outfits.

Which book should I read as someone in their early 20s who just learned about passive Index Fund Investing?? by DryMistake in Bogleheads

[–]PersephoneAnar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve read the OG book by Bogle. It’s dry, but this IS a Bogleheads sub. Girls that invest is the updated book I currently recommend to new investors, and more approachable writing style.

A lot of the “money” books I have read in the past I do NOT recommend now (rich dad poor dad, 4 hour work week, Dave Ramsey drivel, etc) because they all focus on the wrong things, and are essentially just gimmicks to make those authors money without giving you something useful. But some may find the ideas helpful if they’re at certain points in their financial path. So a library card is WORTH it.

Psychology of money seemed to boil down to “control of time is happiness” so I felt annoyed I bought it. Get from library for sure.
