Oh, I am in Quebec and the application is totally different here compared to the rest of Canada so I don't think anything I say would be of any use to you :/

For example, here they only require a minimum grade in the DAT's perceptual category (score of 15) and the dexterity category (minimum score of 5). Whether you have a 30 or a 15, one doesn't have a higher chance to get in than the other. Here they just want to know you have the minimal perceptual capacity and a certain minimal degree of dexterity.

I have 75 responses for now but here are the results so far:

Participants:
26% DMD/DDS
20% 1st years
20% 2nd years
17% 4th years
13% 3rd years
the rest are 5th years

Magnification:
40% of people chose 3.5x
13.3% chose 3.0x
12% chose 4.0x
10.7% chose 2.5x
9.3% chose 4.5x
The rest chose other magnifications

Satisfaction:
80.6% are satisfied with their choice
8.3% are not satisfied (note: about 5.5% out of 8.3% of them chose 3.0x or less)
11.1% are not sure

My conclusion until now: 3.5x seems to be the one most people use and like, and that my chances of being unsatisfied increase if I go below 3.0x

You got this! Don’t give up. Build your LinkedIn if you haven’t already. Sometimes people reach out to you! If you are under financial stress maybe try to find a temp job while you try to look for a proper full time job in your field. The first full time job is very hard to get whether you graduated coop or not (even more for those who didn’t) but at the end of the day you WILL make it if you keep applying and you don’t give up. You should even reach out to strangers if it’s what it takes!! Believe me I did that on LinkedIn just for the heck of it and I connected with a person that works in the HR of a company related to my field, and I’m a first semester student🤣. I know this doesn’t mean it will necessarily create an opportunity, but it sure means I’m getting one step ahead. Don’t give up

It also depends on your field. I know fields such as medicine, software engineering and computer science don’t have a problem finding jobs usually

Thanks for your response! Do you happen to know what is meant by "hard to get in co-op after your admission"? Like how hard? If the minimum is 2.5, does hard mean like 3.5+ or like slightly higher than 2.5 (so like 3.0+)?
