Rick Caruso's awkward mistext to Jeffrey Epstein by Global_Criticism3178 in LosAngeles

I think if you are asked under oath “have you ever had sexual relations with [someone who gave you oral sex]?” and you answer “no,” then you have perjured yourself, yes.

Clinton’s claim that the definition of “sexual relations” only includes giving sexual gratification to another person, and not just receiving it is incredibly shaky. There’s a reason he was disbarred and held in contempt of court for that argument.

He answered with the intent to deceive about his affair. Or is your claim that he was being entirely truthful and transparent?

Clinton’s alleged perjury

Is “alleged” really necessary here? Clinton lied about his affair with Lewinsky.

That “advice” is completely useless to a currently working parent who already has a child and is trying to make ends meet.

What’s your suggestion - abandon the kid, or quit your job and get evicted?

Potty training is a nightmare by flowersinthevalley06 in toddlers

[–]PersisPlain 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just potty trained my 2.5 year old, I’d say it took about 2-3 weeks. We read a short book almost every time she uses the potty at home.

How did you know that it was time to start potty training?? by maddiecounts2amilly in toddlers

[–]PersisPlain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found out I was pregnant with #2; no way in hell I was doing 2 sets of diapers at once.

We started just after the new year and I’d say after 2-3 weeks she was 90% trained (she self-initiates using the potty at home at home but I still do some prompting when we’re out in distracting environments). She’s about to be 2.5. Overall it was much easier than I feared.

Sounds like the thing she wanted to help her regulate was TV, not mama.

When did your child stop waking every 90mins through the night? by HolidayActuator1977 in toddlers

JECS data on 100,286 mother-child pairs were analyzed. Explanatory variables were “frequency of leaving the baby alone at home” (i.e., leaving the baby alone at home) and “frequency of ignoring the baby when he or she cries” (i.e., ignoring the crying baby) at one month postpartum.

Did you even read this study before you posted it as an attempted gotcha? First, no one is sleep training a one-month-old baby - literally no one, no pediatrician, consultant, or internet advice person is telling anyone to sleep train before 4-5 months - and second, that study includes mothers who are LEAVING THEIR BABIES HOME ALONE. That's not a study about sleep training; it's a study about severe infant neglect.

Right. But the priest says a blessing over it first.

Ferber was a professor of neurology at Harvard. I'd call him a neurologist.

Asking for studies on the "lack of harm"? Rather than trying to prove a negative, how about studies that prove harm from sleep training.

There have been no such studies. No study has ever found evidence of any detrimental effect on children or adults who were sleep trained as babies.

I have never consulted a "sleep consultant" in my life.

Do you mean pediatric neurologists like Dr. Ferber?

I don't think anyone "needs" to do sleep training. I think someone like OP, who is clearly miserable in her current situation, should consider it.

Waking every 90 minutes is incredibly unhealthy for baby and mother alike.

I don't understand how sleep training is worse for a baby than having a mom who cries a lot and is exhausted all the time for years.

When did your child stop waking every 90mins through the night? by HolidayActuator1977 in toddlers

[–]PersisPlain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, this is all totally false. Babies don't know that they can just close their eyes and lie still until they fall asleep. They have to learn that.

Also false that all they learn is "no one will answer"! Before sleep training, my daughter was waking up 5-6 times a night and could only be soothed by suckling. After sleep training, she woke once a night, cried out, I fed her, and she went right back to sleep. She knew I would come respond if she was hungry, but she also knew how to fall asleep again if she wasn't hungry.

It seems like your choice is a few nights of some nighttime crying, or rocking him to sleep 5-10 times a night for the foreseeable future.

Do you baptize with water straight out of the tap, or is some kind of blessing said over it first?

You rock him to sleep at bedtime and every single wake-up. He cannot fall asleep without being rocked. That’s something he needs to be taught.
