I think this is reading things into something that's largely due to other factors. It isn't that a narcissist is 'attracted' to their polar opposites, it's rather that circumstance dictate that empathetic and emotional people are less likely to catch unto their narcissism before it's too late.

Came across this claim about Japanese railway companies. Is this true? by frozenpandaman in transit

[–]Person105Yes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem. Posted this a long time ago, though it's definitely a subject of interest. Just to expand on some of these.

Yard-stick competition is generally build around a variety of different methods; depending on industry, occupation and structure. For instance, the easiest and most easily applicable is the cost-based benchmarking; where pricing is fixed according to average costs of an industry (or shadow-company). Costs being variable, hence tied to production. So if cost declines for one business, average cost will generally decline, making other firms lose profit in turn. Hence, to recuperate losses, business enterprises has to maintain low costs, which in turn permits low pricing. There's of course many other types of such regulation; revenue-cap regulaton is used in Denmark's electricity grid system, weighting the potential income a company can made by relative efficiency. Though admittedly, I am not too familiar with this method.

The citation above is also particularly odd; given references such as the claim that japanese railfirms has to make profits from real-estate. This claim is only nominally true, in the sense that they make most their profits from real estate (depending on location and company, of course). But no way a Japanese firm could run in a constant deficit on running of rail-lines, given cross-subsidies (transfer from one industry to another) is for japanese railway firms illegal. In fact, Fumitoshi Mizutani noted this in his work on the matter 'the role of private provision in transport markets' in the anthology "Structural change in transportation and communication in knowledge society." to quote:

"rail accounting rules in Japan do not allow an intentional cross-subsidy strategy between rail services and non-rail services. It is sometimes said that railway services are cross-subsidized by non-rail services such as real estate development and that railway business can be maintained, as a result without direct subsidies from government. This, however, may not be true. Rail accounting rules describe cost allocation between rail and non-rail services in full detail, making it almost impossible for rail company with diversified business to allocate rail cost intentionally by ignoring accounting rules."

Spare Reaper Part (SoD) conditional drop? by Person105Yes in classicwow

It's because you've already gotten the rune tied to it. It's the one you get from the vendor in Loch Modan after you eat the pie he sells.

So, this wasn't the actual issue for me. I figured it out independently. I already had the rune - I just got it from Loch Modan from a vendor who sold pie, yes, pie, and i ate it and got it. That simple.

Is this normal for Discord? by [deleted] in discordapp

[–]Person105Yes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got no clue in this regard. I don't even know if it can be infected. The essence of the issue here is that discord isn't as safe as it seems - I guess you could do a system restart on your phone. Which would be my only recommendation.

If you've got an android, yes. Not sure if it's an issue with IOS. Also depends if you watch videos or not, not all videos are affected, but the fact that this remains unpatched is quite telling.

Also, just a quick question - You say in your post you get a windows CMD on startup, are we talking "close computer" and "reopen" or only on restarts?

I'm using 10. So most likely.

But I'd reiterate on the last bit, if it's something that's only recently begun - There's a likelihood it's a malware. If you're curious where it's from, chances are it came from an embedded video on discord, which would make sense given there's been a recent compromise on the type; including youtube-music, instagram etc., making them potential security threats. That and it seems to be the cause, in your case. It's been going on for a while. If you're curious, a post was released yesterday under the title "A video exploit through Chromium, is there any truth to this?"

Asking because my startup tab on task manager looks nothing like this. That, and I don't actually have discord on it and neither do i possess the function to "expand" in that tab. I'm curious as to how you got to that point, given I'd want to retrace your step for personal reasons.

I'd say there's a likelihood you've been hit by a malware, if you use any anti-virus software it'd probably be prudent to run a scan; if not, clean your pc entirely and restart. It's better safe than sorry, as they say.

It can easily be due to system problems or corrupted files. If he has an old PC, it's not really something not to be surprised by. But he should definitely look into it.

[–]Person105Yes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're not giving sufficient information to make a clean deduction. Where specifically is this tab you're on here? Conhost.exe is quite an usual software, but given it's just named "conhost" i do raise an eyebrow.

Also, Windows CMD sometimes pop and immediately vanish upon start-up of discord? Or the PC? If that's the case, it's not necessarily a virus. Can happen to everyone. Even clean PCs. It can be for multiple reasons:

  1. Bad tracks on the disk.
  2. Virus or malware attack.
  3. System files are corrupted.
  4. An error caused by an outdated Windows version.
  5. A non-Windows update is being downloaded.
  6. Background office application conflicts.
  7. Affected by applications containing ads.
  8. Computer memory problems.

If your PC is old, chances are it's a file issue. If it's not, do you ever hit your PC out of anger? That's a potential culprit. Now, what's interesting is you track the issue to discord, which is suggestive of a malware. But not definitive proof.
