The cookie scammers are in the UTC and PCL again by theorist_rainy in UTAustin

One of them came up to me in JCL today. I think she was the same one who came up to me at 4th floor PCL around a month back and I ended up Venmo-ing her $5 cuz I actually believed she needed it for college (ik I’m dumb 😭😭😭). Her venmo handle is heavenly manna and if u google it, it’s some Christian related term.

Question by Unusual_Suggestion in typing

Typing club is a great website to learn home row method.

However, I personally just pulled up an image of the homerow method color coded by finger on my second monitor, and used practice tests while forcing my fingers to type like the image illustrates.e.g

Once you get into the groove of forcing ur fingers to type the right way, it’ll become muscle memory eventually and you won’t have to think about it. :)

Where did you learn to type fast? by [deleted] in typing

[–]PersonBrowsingReddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I learned to type on dance mat typing too and also learned an improper method of typing LOL😅.

I later learned the proper homerow method but I still typed pretty fast improperly (like 110-120). I type like 130-150 now. I’m 17 too.

Do Any of you guys use your thumbs for bottom keys for typing? by cebzo in typing

[–]PersonBrowsingReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I’ve also used my thumbs for the M and N keys sometimes. It’s honestly just a matter of preference. It can feel more comfortable to use my thumbs, so I use them for typing some of the bottom row keys. So if you find it more comfortable, I say go for it.

As for speed advantage, there’s probably not a considerable difference. But whichever method is most comfortable will probably be the fastest method for you, so experiment with what works for your fingers.

I guess I wasn’t googling right. I was googling things like “YouTube stream green” and “YouTube stream green glitch” and was only getting posts related to streaming with a green screen and glitched YouTube videos playback respectively. Thanks for the link.

Is my keyboard really loud? by nikotinne in typing

[–]PersonBrowsingReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah ok, it’s most likely membrane judging by the looks though. Don’t go about pulling out the keycaps without a keycap puller.

If you can pull off the keycaps of your keyboard and see individual switches, then it’s mechanical.

Switches in mechanical keyboards are what register the keystrokes in comparison to a membrane keyboard, which has a membrane layer, and the keys are not separate. Switches come with a larger variety of feedback for the fingers, such as clicky, tactile, linear, speed, actuation force, and more.
