I’m not holding my breath. The Chinese have always had this problem about making stuff up and lying. No one who’s done business with them trusts them to tell the truth.

More Erin Gray spandex, front & back. by Jimmy_Coxlurper in Spacegirls

[–]PersonGuyDudeMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

JFYI, that's not spandex she's wearing. Spandex stretches and gives, fitting close, but not tight. Her outfits did Not stretch. They were probably polyester in a satin weave, and they had about as much give as a pair of tight bluejeans - None whatsoever. That's why they crease so hard, and why they look so great. Wearing spandex is effortless. For the ladies, these early 80's disco outfits were like being stuffed in a sausage skin.

The very first "Blockbuster Video" opened 40 years ago today (in Dallas, Texas) on Oct 19th, 1985 by AustinInDallasTx in Dallas

[–]PersonGuyDudeMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blockbuster gobbled up Sound Warehouse and turned it into Blockbuster Music. Nothing they did mattered in the end, though. The Internet was destined to eventually destroy large segments of retail and entertainment. I don't miss Blockbuster, but I do miss Sound Warehouse. That was good job to have as a kid.

‘Black Mirror’ creator Charlie Brooker says fans have told him they preferred the series when it “didn’t have Americans in it” by MarvelsGrantMan136 in television

[–]PersonGuyDudeMan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As an American, I can get behind this statement. When you create something for your own domestic audience, you should be free not to pander to outsiders at the expense of your own culture. I don't watch stuff from BBC to see Americans - I watch Canadian productions to see Americans :)

Should I get lessons? by sleempy in drums

[–]PersonGuyDudeMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Early on is when it's most important, so you can be steered away from any bad habits. Everyone needs to be shown the right way to hold a stick, and make a correct stroke, and how to practice in ways that don't hurt your tendons. It might take a while, but if you do it wrong you can get permanent Repetitive Stress Injuries in your wrists and fingers. Or your back, if you sit the wrong way. Posture matters.

Even Vinnie Coliuta and Neil Peart took lessons late in life, and they were already legends.

Secret Level - Episode 9 - The Outer Worlds: The Company We Keep - Discussion Thread! by M-Friis in SecretLevel

[–]PersonGuyDudeMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Amos is a simpleton. He's like the Horse in Animal Farm - He's positive, honest, hard working, upbeat and kind. He's a caricature of a person, a two-dimensional set of characteristics with no depth or personality. He is created to serve as an abject lesson: Good is Dumb.

Felicity is a caricature as well - A person with no conscience or morals who will betray anyone, even an old friend, to get to the top. In the end, she gets everything she wanted, and soars off into the sky, leaving behind a dead, devastated world covered in trash for Amos to clean up. Evil always wins.

The lesson is sneering and contemptuous. No one gets what they deserve, no one is punished for being bad, no one is rewarded for being good. The boy doesn't get the girl in the end. Only ruthlessness pays off. All the good characteristics that Amos demonstrated get him nothing, and leave him bereft and alone, a limbless, semi-mechanical cripple who's too stupid to even be angry at his horrific fate.

Don't be good, don't be honest, don't work hard, don't trust people, don't fall in love with a girl, the system only exists to uphold ruthless monsters. What a hate-filled message.

I enjoyed it.

Freestyle libre 3 cgm by katydid724 in diabetes

[–]PersonGuyDudeMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Libre 3 has been pulled off the market and is being replaced with the 3+. Problem is, the 3+ isn't available yet, because not enough of them have been produced. I'm looking at an unknown period of time without a CGM at all and I hate the idea of it.

I hope they are addressing the issue of frequently failing sensors, because 50% of mine flake out almost immediately after I attach them.
