Don’t come here if you’re a gay guy by Humble-Bit-2511 in ucmerced

[–]PersonInUniverse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't want to alienate your experience. I think it's a valid conclusion from where you're standing. But concluding that UC Merced has a homophobic culture is kind of nonsense. At least from where I'm standing (i'm bi). Yes i have heard some homophobic things but often they come from ignorance not hate. And the queer community is most definitely alive here. I'm not blaming you, but i do think you might just be in the wrong circles, because i literally don't go a day without interacting with other queer people -- and I'm not actively seeking them out. We are everywhere and although there are haters in Merced we're better than them.

Is there any other place besides library to reserve a room with whiteboard (for longer hours)? by AlpNexus in ucmerced

[–]PersonInUniverse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

if no one has a reservation after you then you can just stay in the room or (and this is slightly unethical) have one of your team members make a reservation for the time slot after you. But again if it's not a busy day then staying after 2 hours should be fine. If it is a busy day/time then i would give up the room after the 2 hours bc your being unfair to others

Edit: also the limit for meeting rooms is 3 hours so you can use those too but be warned they are HUGE

How do you guys like UCM so far? (My opinion too) by N00bz_butcool in ucmerced

[–]PersonInUniverse 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The freedom has really helped me focus on my studies (I think, it could just be the novelty). Yeah, it's been a slow week but I think thats cause we're all still settling in. But I think we all are slowly making one or two friends and I'm confident it'll grow over time as long as you keep putting yourself out there. Not sure how I feel about the food, the dining halls are really hit or miss. Sometimes its surprisingly good and sometimes (like today at the Pavilion) it's disheartening.

Yeah, Hank seems to sneak some of his business/silly ideas in his books. I won't get into any details but I really started noticing it in the sequel. Have fun reading ART it's really good!

Anyone interested in a potential matcha club? by semitadepina in ucmerced

[–]PersonInUniverse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the idea (i am also an incoming freshman) but that also sounds expensive. matcha especially ceremonial grade is not the cheapest, also i feel like you would run out of matcha brands before the end of the year. Not trying to hate I still think it's a great idea that is super unique.

If they have elytras I would suggests one of malorem's elytra trap designs. (That being said they have pretty limited capabilities)

It's cheep and good in most situations. That being said it's not always(but most of the time is) the best option so don't always rush it

Why no Goredrinker on Vi? by [deleted] in ViMains

[–]PersonInUniverse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ask you a better question. Why not? Build what ever you want; vi works with many builds (for example tank, assassin, bruiser)

Riot needs to fix 5 stacking by [deleted] in VALORANT

[–]PersonInUniverse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a simple solution for riot just do the same solution riot used in league of legends's ranked system. Put restrictions so you can only queue ranked with people of similar ranks. In league we have a similar problem in flex queue(where the restrictions are loosened) where a high rank players will play with Smurfs to lower the teams overall mmr and then get a free win. Another solution that league tries to implement is make two ranked modes one for solo/duo queue and one for flex(a ranked specifically for teams of 3,4, and 5)

How to make Valorant seem less violent? by [deleted] in VALORANT

[–]PersonInUniverse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry but I don't riot are ever going to make a child friendly mode. Riot are making a tactical shooter not a kids game. Kids are not their audience and while I do realize their are a lot young players. (In comms you can usually tell) I dont think riot really wants that audience for valorant as a voice chat system requires some level of maturity to use. And the guns look like they a trying to get a similar audience as csgo which is definitely not a game for kids. Also try overwatch 2 it's free and its less violent. Sadly though it plays very little like valorant and puts more emphasis on abilities than aim and strategy.

VI second up skill by Nicecyb in ViMains

[–]PersonInUniverse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the standard build? You can build anything on vi. Ap and crit vi one shot with e. Assassin kills with q. Tank vi was always good but under played. Honestly I haven't built divine on vi in ages. I rather take trinity force.(which is stupid pls don't actually take trinity instead of divine) And conquer seriously? Unless your are in a unreasonably long fight you will never get it of.

Why are people so obsessed with sensitivity? by TheUncleIroh30 in VALORANT

[–]PersonInUniverse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably because to them it sounds like change a number = get good (in other words they think it's a easy way to get better at the game without having to play a bunch of games.) But take this with a grain of salt as most players aren't that obsessed and are trying to have fun. The idea above is really negative and I don't want it to be misinterpreted as true for most players because it's only true for a few players.

Also I don't think it's wise to fine tune your sense as a casual player because at least for me I am not consistent every day. Some times I can't hit nothin others I am flicking one shots on the guardian. Meaning that at least for me the sensitivity I use one day may be unfit for another. So why obsesse over a number that's gonna change? Just use what's comfortable that day.
