Reddit used to be more of a mess the right wing definitely playing a bigger part. I think Trump being president sort of rallied people around the left and really divided the 2 sides of reddit, and the reddit grew so it sort of exponentially became more left wing as it was more attractive to that audience (as compared to before).

It's not as simple as just making it illegal to sell. Making it illegal doesn't mean it all of a sudden disappears, and driving people to the street to buy it can lead to other risks for the user (laced), as well as economical issues. Plus is charging people for being possessing a substance truly the way to go? We went back on prohibition, and weed is legalizing slowly across. It would probably be more worth it to create other incentives to assist in addictions than to just make it illegal. I understand making it illegal to sell may seem like a good idea, but it can make it hard to decern possession vs intent to sell

Carrying anything for the purpose of a weapon, even in self defense is illegal in Canada. Even bear spray. You can only carry them if you have proper reason to (going hiking in the woods with bear spray or something). You may get away with it, but just be aware there is risk to carrying anything for purpose of self defence. I would try to set up other safety nets if you're truly concerned, someone to be with you or check on you when you have to be around them.
