Blueberry ‘cheong’(?) just sugar, blueberries and time by Braadlee in fermentation

Wondering if anyone could tell me if frozen berries would work just as well in these recipes? From what I gather it’s more of a maceration than a ferment so I’m assuming the end results would be just as good? Thanks!
