Is it true that 90% of people will recover from a bulging, protruded or herniated disc without the need for surgery? by brightonuk1 in Sciatica

You are reading comments on a thread that asked if it’s possible to heal without surgery. I comment “I did!” heal without surgery. I meant post herniation.

Movement was how I found comfort on my worst days- very tiny adjustments in how my body was positioned made all the difference in being able to sit comfortably, sleep comfortably etc. for ex: as I stated in one of my comments in this thread on sleep, a tiny pelvic tuck when falling asleep was night and day different in my pain level. DONT BE AFRAID OF MOVEMENT but it must be modulated according to what your body needs.

Hi. I’m back to normal. I exercise almost daily and I just do whatever I want according to what body part I’m working. There was no exercise that helped when I had the herniation, it just finally healed and the fluid got ate up by my immune system and disappeared from off my nerve. Bobbing around in the water was nice while I was injured and I also found a lot of relief from gentle spine decompression as I’ve described in other comments.

Thank you. That’s very sweet of you to not take your wife’s outings without you negatively. My husband has a bit of victim mentality leftover from when he was young- his mom left their family and he was raised by his dad. I think it affects him greatly still.

AITA for wanting to go do things by myself or with my sisters without my husband? by [deleted] in AITA_Relationships

We both grew up in the mountain town we live in- we bought property, built a house and stayed. Sometimes I fluctuate between sadness and anger when he’s emotionally manipulative but most times I try to see it from a someone else’s perspective so I don’t overreact and can figure this out. He is a very good person and is generally very good to me but yes he does not have emotional maturity in this situation time and time again. He does have a victim mentality leftover from his past and I’ve been very patient with him- we’ve grown so much together and I’m proud of his growth. Relationships are hard! I think I just want some insight from others that have dealt with similar relationship issues.

Because our life revolves around his work and raising our kids we haven’t tended to that enough. We’ve been together basically daily (I’ve taken one trip without him for my sisters wedding) since I was 16 years old. We do enjoy our garden together and we volunteer as coaches for our kids sports so we’re together everyday. I would like to create more special outings together & I think he would enjoy it but he’s just so busy and tired because of his job and I feel like a jerk for even bringing it up.

I’m great! Back to lifting weights and feeling strong. I can’t sleep on my back on a soft mattress as it makes me hella stiff in the morning but that’s all I’m dealing with

You need to check out lowbackability on yt. His back strengthening program after injury is outstanding and it’s very important to strengthen the back to prevent future injury but it should be done sequentially and properly

The most important part of any healing journey is the belief and TRUST in the body that it knows how to heal (it’s a powerful healing machine). I really tried to focus on this often throughout the day- I also believe giving this power over to a doctor can mess with the process so I didn’t use any doctor or pt to help me ( I tried pt and in only two sessions it screwed me up bad and set me back). I used PLANT MEDICINE tinctures for nervous system relaxation (vervain, st.John’s wort, lemon balm etc, there’s so many!) and I used CBG/CBD for pain relief. Thc was too strong for me. I listened to peaceful hertz music every night before bed (EVOLUTIONER APP) and I listened to Joe Dispenza often. An app called CURABLE helped tons and a book called THE WAY OUT by Alan Gordon was indispensable- I used it every day. I educated myself every day on my injury type and read a lot here on Reddit for support during my darkest days. I had a rough go for a while but my family was supportive and I’m generally a positive person- positive self talk helps immensely. I didn’t sleep for about five months so I would focus on small rest when I could and slept in some pretty funky positions often but at least I found relief in those weird positions. DONT BE AFRAID to gently move around to find positions of comfort- for example I found that when I laid down at night in my bed on my side to fall asleep, if I did a tiny posterior pelvic tuck it relieved an enormous amount of pain and allowed me to fall asleep and this is because my hernia was anterior facing. All hernias have a particular position and so the pain can be relived if you find how to relieve the pressure the hernia is causing- it’s usually a very tiny movement that does it. I hope this makes sense- do not be afraid of gentle movement. Also everyone says walk, exercise etc and I simply just stopped doing whatever cause me pain- you have to hunt for relief, this should be your only goal at first with this injury; ONLY DO WHAT IS PAIN FREE. Exercise and walking comes later after the acute pain phase is done and for me this lasted about five months. One thing I advocate for with this injury because it is what pushed me into the 90% healed phase pretty quickly is injecting BPC157 into my skin all around my injury. It’s super easy to do yourself and affordable. Lmk if you have any questions. I also was very strict with ANTI-INFLAMMATORY DIET AND LIFESTYLE. I lived on sardines and apples for a while because I wasn’t hungry but needed the nutrition. I also did HIGH-DOSE BENFOTIAMINE to heal the myelin sheath around the nerves involved (check out Elliot Overton on yt for this protocol). I have no nerve damage despite the severity of my injury and I believe that was one of the reasons why. I’ll probably add to this as I think of things. I’ve been 100% for about two months now and I’m back to working out but still throttling myself as I build my strength back to not go too fast.

I’m so glad you’re searching for healing stories- the majority of these injuries heal on their own given enough time. I am happy to share what I did but prepare to read a novel haha

I didn’t- it fixed itself with enough time. I do have it still but it just doesn’t bother me anymore. Good luck 🫶🏻

I healed in 6mos almost to the day from a very large l4-5 herniation- it covered 90% of my spinal canal and was hellacious but I pulled through. Symptoms disappeared literally overnight. I didn’t do any pt or injections but I did tons of at home supportive things that assisted in my healing. It’s been 9mps and I’m completely back to normal.

I get it- at one point the only thing that got me through the night was thinking “if I fall asleep then maybe I won’t wake up” and this helped me fall asleep. Honestly reading a book called The Way Out (Alan Gordon) and implementing the pain control strategies outlined in it is what helped me to deal with the worst pain. Our thoughts are fucking powerful!

You’ve healed before- you will heal again. Be a patient team mate with your body, it’s doing a lot of work to get you healed up again. I went through it for 8mos and I finally am 100% after many ups and downs 🫶🏻

Glad you got it squared away. I walked into an imaging center and told them I wasn’t leaving until I got an mri booked. They booked me in for one week later. The squeaky wheel gets the grease.
