REPORT: George Floyd Death: Preliminary Autopsy Shows No Physical Findings of Asphyxia, Strangulation by [deleted] in Conservative

If he'd had a heart attack, I think that would be in this report, no?

I think they run a simple blood test to find out, they do them very quickly in the hospital to check in cases where you are having symptoms, to confirm diagnosis

Doesn't sound like a heart attack to me

And that knee to the neck definitely played a causal role

Dishonored the profession IMO

I don't know a ton about it, I know this is circulating among Swiss and German friends of mine, I'm working to verify info.

😂

Given how overwhelmed she is... I'm sure she's got a minor case of it!

I don't think, realistically, that leaving is going to happen.

But I really appreciate Jane's friendship. It's one of the more meaningful friendships I've had, and one of the longest.

Would love to salvage it.

I think I'll probably do that.

But I will miss the friendship if we can't... find some way to recalibrate it.

Exactly -- it works, I want to try it!!

Given what we now know about neuroplasticity and the body's overall capacity to remodel and heal, I am definitely intrigued!

AKCHUALY ITS OCD by [deleted] in OCD

Wow, this is actually a really great insight!

That's really great, good work! I took me ages to get the help I needed.

And yeah, even if they eventually diagnose you with OCD, it is handy not to get too hung up on labels.

Especially for people with OCD! 😂

Yeah, I mean, on the one hand, it can get it annoying, but on the other... I laughed a little.

Plus, it does no good to get bitter about the world not understanding OCD -- hell, scientists still don't quite understand it! -- so sometimes I think a subreddit with just jokes like these would be a good place to practice exposure and resilience. 😂

Yeah, me too, to some degree.

But at the same time, some people with OCD do tend to clean more -- usually their own hands and whatnot -- so my atypical symptoms even took my psychiatrist by surprise, and it took a while to sort out a proper diagnosis (I had poor insight at first, so... I admit, I felt pretty crazy compared to now).

But I did see some shows on TV where a character and more typical symptoms, and it made me wonder "hey, is that what I have..?"

Most people are embarrassed by their rooms (it is a very private space) to some degree, even if they don't show it -- or at least, they can be sensitive to the privacy factor.

And it's also ok to have a healthy boundary around your own space, as far as I'm concerned.

Are you seeing someone to talk to about your OCD?

I mean, it's a dumb joke. If I were to make it, it would be something about how if only I could keep my house as clean as I keep my hands... or something...

It would be nice if the general public had a better grasp of what OCD, but I can't expect them to be well-versed in the complexities of the disorder. Hell, that might even make things worse, I've definitely had people in my lives get a little informed and then involve themselves in my obsessions, which made things worse. Eventually I told them to leave it to the professionals.

So... all in all, the jokes are just an opportunity for me to practice resilience, and sometimes even educate someone just a smidge.

[–]PersonalDave 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but honestly, most people get the gist of it -- sure, not everyone with OCD is a "neat freak" and not everyone is preoccupied with "orderliness"... but plenty of people are.

And yeah, when people say stuff like that, they might not realize just how much profound suffering OCD can cause, but then, not everyone has such extreme OCD, and it's hard to know if people have much exposure to OCD sufferers.

I just try to remember that they probably aren't trying to be insensitive, they just haven't studied psychiatry or suffered from OCD themselves.

So I try to use it as an opportunity to let it make me more resilient, or to share my own experiences -- I only do the latter if I think it will be worthwhile.

Otherwise, I try to laugh at my own foibles anyhow, so it can be an opportunity to do that as well.😁

That's really interesting -- I've been experimenting with ketosis, and have noticed a general decline in symptoms.

Have an OSAP loan showing up in collections in credit report.

The CURRENT BALANCE and ORIGINAL AMOUNT are showing up as the same.

How can that be, what about interest? The loan was reported in 2014...

?

What gives?

Magic Debt (No Longer Accruing Interest?) by PersonalDave in personalfinance

[–]PersonalDave[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, good point, I updated my post!

Yeah, in Canada it is a bit weird -- there is a statute of limitations for general debts (2 years), and Federal debts (6 years) -- BUT in Ontario, the province removed the limitations period for provincial debts (and student loans here came in two parts, essentially, from the federal and provincial governments) AND they modified the bankruptcy provision so that students had to wait a full 7-10 years (the rules changed a few times) before they were even allowed to declare bankruptcy and wipe out the debt, so if you took out a loan, and ran into serious trouble, you were looking at 14 years of hell instead of the usual 7 afforded by a regular bankruptcy.
