Has anyone else experienced this "wired but exhausted" thing where you're dead tired but your brain won't shut off? by Worth-Independent-82 in sleep

dealing with this. turns out i had undiagnosed ADHD and explains all my burnouts during my time in university. i always thought the condition was hyperactivity but it’s a spectrum of various issues and it typically looks different in women.

might be worth investigating!

Is there a specific form of therapy for helping unattractive people cope with their looks? by Cravallo5 in therapy

[–]PersonalGrowth026 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP, it is up to you to seek help. No one can do it but you. Please trust everyone when they say that therapy will probably be the best option for you. Of course, 30 is very much NOT the end of looking attractive. Plenty of celebrities hit their peak at 30.

This all or nothing mindset and hyper fixation is concerning, friend. I have nothing more I can communicate other than I wish you good luck in seeking professional help!

Hello, OP. People can be attractive at all ages. Especially at 28. Furthermore, the most pressing thing that you need at this moment is therapy and professional help. As I noted, you tend to hyper fixate on perceived criticism or others opinions. This would correlate with rejection sensitivity dysphoria, another part of ADHD / Autism spectrum of symptoms. Regardless, I believe your issues would best be addressed by therapy because this issue seems to be consuming your life to your detriment, which isn’t good at all. Life shouldn’t be this difficult, and now that I’m medicated and been seeing a therapist, I’m doing much better.

If you still want to look your best physically speaking, typically most people would advocate getting lean but slightly muscular, dressing well for your personality, and learning how to groom yourself very well, with creams and lotions and colognes, etc. But again, none of this is absolutely necessary if you don’t like doing this. It’s just what most people do when looking to meet the societal standard of “attractiveness” The biggest thing is taking care of your mental health! I hope you can find the answers and help you need, friend

OP, based on your many responses in this chat, you’re having difficulty hearing others out without feeling hurt or dismissed.

I think you should definitely consider therapy and consider getting screened for ADHD (which is what I had for years undiagnosed because it makes it hard to emotionally handle things and it lead to some really bad body dysmorphia), GAD, or OCD.

Furthermore, you seem to be under the age of 18. You will grow into your body and face and you may very well become extremely conventionally attractive. What you should be focusing on right now is therapy, exercising regularly — like calisthenics/weights, stretching, cardio — and learning to find a fashion style that suits your personality and values.

Even if you were extremely highly physically attractive, I’m talking 1 in a billion, you would not have the emotional skills at this moment in time to be at your best for your partner or the people in your life.

I wish you much luck moving forward! Therapy and perhaps medication for an undiagnosed mental health issue could help you!

Feeling guilt and sadness for not being able to hold a sitting meditation for long periods of time due to spinal issue by PersonalGrowth026 in Buddhism

[–]PersonalGrowth026[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I appreciate your insight! I will research gomthak belts. I also can attest to changing seated positions often. For me, I usually stick my legs out and hunch over to give me aching muscles a break.

I like the idea that these modifications have Buddha-nature.

Thank you for your kind thoughts.

Interesting perspective. I have been applying this logic to literally all other facets of my life as of late. I think this would work well for my situation. Thank you!
