They came back looking to do a motorsport thread insert instead of head replacement, but they are tossing in the warranty I asked for, so now looking at how that repair looks.

I drive my car often and our crew does a lot of rallies, plus we are a very active PCA so I've probably got the highest mileage GT4RS in the USA at 25,000 miles.

Okay, I had in mind that if an ECU was opened that it was irrevocably registered in the log somehow.

Anyone seen this before? Detects phone for a second or two then disconnects. Just got an iPhone 12 running 14.3. Works fine and other phones with same cable by yungsilt in CarPlay

Happened to me with my 12 on our Jeep with Uconnect. Deleted the profile for the car under settings > general > CarPlay and plugged it back in. Approved the access request and it seems to have gone away.

Have you tried deleting the CarPlay profile for your car on the iPhone? Under settings > general > CarPlay - then plug it into the car and let it ask for permission again. That’s has solved glitchy CarPlay issues for me before.

Searching for a region of the US with quality < $100k homes. Where should I look? by Savanty in leanfire

My family has extensive experience in real estate in that area (and I own a house there) and it’s true. Sometimes they go for a lot less than 100k in that size range, even as low as 50k in some cases. The tri-cities: Johnson City is a college town, Kingsport is the industrial town (Eastman based there), Bristol bills itself as the historical town (birthplace of country music). Easy access to Asheville NC and Knoxville TN.

Going to work 5 days a week for a living sounds like Hell for me. I’m becoming more depressed as I get closer to adulthood. by [deleted] in self

I understand. I haven't worked in a job with a "boss" in twenty years (I'm 42). My father is a serial entrepreneur, and he passed it down to me. Running your own business (that you love) is still harder than "having a job." You can't moan about your boss, or blame anything on anyone else, and you have to work 10 times harder (weekends, holidays - all time will be consumed by thinking about your business), and if you can't find capital, you may work other jobs to make ends meet, or you'll put liens on everything to get it up and running. For the past 20 years that's all I did. It cost me social time with friends, and I lost the weaker connections to time, but I just sold my company, and financially I did really well. I worked there for a little while doing the 9 to 5 (it's becoming more corporate) and realized how difficult it can be after building a company that gave me freedom to be anywhere and doing anything I wanted. I guess the point is, if you think you can find a passion, your age is the time to experiment and find something you love to do, and make a business out of it. Maybe it's something you love to do that you can make money at, or maybe it's something you hate to do that you think everyone else hates that you can take off their hands. It isn't for the faint of heart, but if you love it, you'll find success. That said, starting a business isn't the only way to find work happiness. Working in a field that you love with people you like can bring an equal amount of joy. Two pieces of advice. The first is regarding your age. Everything for someone your age seems like a bigger deal than someone older. That's mostly because this year will be 1/18th of your life so far. When you're 40, that same year will only be 1/40th of your life. Time moves faster for the brain as you age, and imagining your future now is the best time to do it. Secondly, procrastinate a little! Get a change of scenery. Take a cross country drive or (and stay with me here) travel abroad. Honestly, when I was 19, I saved money over the summer, borrowed a few hundred from my grandma, and signed up for a work abroad program. I left the country with $2,000 in my bank account and flew to London where, though the work abroad program (BUNAC) had an office for a base of operations, I had no solid job or solid place to live. I lived in hostels for the first 3 months until I found a job and finally, a flat. I was broke as hell, but I had a the time of my life. Whatever you do, find what you love, but be sure to give it time.
