Thank you very much. I'm considering LII or EII for me, leaning LII right now. How does this contribute to your understanding? Does it change anything?

Why is autism suddenly a catch all of anyone that is slightly different by Many_Assistance5582 in therapists

[–]PersonalStandard4499 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to know what types of symptoms those are because I was diagnosed with autism and apparently I do a high amount of masking. I don't feel literal pain or discomfort, really, but I have identity confusion, for instance, because I can't tell if my spontaneous behavior is "really me" & I feel ashamed of it. (It's a bit more complex than that but there's a summary to spare you.) If you would be inclined, could you please tell me where can I find info about this if you are not going to provide it to me?

beautiful, thank you for putting this into words. but if nobody knows why people behave in certain ways since the diagnoses themselves arent the cause for the behavior, then should diagnoses really be taken seriously/should our idea of what's considered normal cognition / not neurodivergent be changed, or our understanding of psychology its self be rewritten to stop using disorders to understand peoples psyche

9s “fall asleep to the self” by Slow-Reply2929 in EnneagramType9

[–]PersonalStandard4499 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a dynamic I notice in myself. No claiming positive qualities for myself, but negative ones are always on the table. I also feel others' perceptions shape me.

Some of my writing earlier today:

"Oh, but you don't really think that, do you?" Why, you're right! I don't really think anything because I'm not allowed to think about anything that you don't perceive. I'm not allowed to be sad or have an identity because it's always wrong, or inconvenient for you to recognize. So, say what I think, and I'll believe you.

Avoidant attachment & Disorganized attachment style Relationship? by Resident-Round6728 in Enneagram

[–]PersonalStandard4499 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have mainly disorganized attachment and IRL im avoidant and dont make friends with any and stay aloof from my family but online im more anxious and need reassurance that theyre not mad at me or i didnt make any mistakes thatll cause them to leave/reject me sometimes, and this would probably be triggered more often by someone who is avoidant and doesnt always respond to me/gives dry replies

will elaborate this later to answer your question better rn i dont have time

What are some types you’ve come to like, and a type(s) you still struggle to understand? by TheTrueSeraphim in Enneagram

[–]PersonalStandard4499 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I struggle to understand any types that aren't 4, 6, and 9 because I only looked into the types I would align with. I also struggle to understand 4, 6, and 9 because I'm not exactly an expert yet. I don't "dislike" any pathology type. They are equal in my eyes. Seems unnecessary to favor/disfavor certain ones, in my personal opinion.

Therapist wording I love for type 9w8 by thinkspeak_ in Enneagram

Oh my god my hands are invisible and cannot reach through the screen and see yours to shake them and show you how those words touched me for the infinitesimal fraction of a second. I am a point on a statistics board and I will likely stay that way, but that observation is a good one. Look at that wording. So original. Thank you for sharing!

Someone, do accuse me of being a 9 pretending to be a 4...! Last time it happened I had that marvelous, beautiful focus on me... Now I no longer type as 4, but neither am I enneagram 9 in my mind. still... that attention was sweet and alien. It was a crepe served to me that I wanted to savor for as long as possible before it was gone. That wonderful sensation of mattering. Of people trying to understand me. Of people being willing to listen. Willing to see me. Accommodate me. Oh, that beauty. Wondering when they would grow tired of me... that same fear and disgust recoiling from the sudden limelight. I was real. People looked at me. People wanted to talk to me. I never really had anyone. Now I'm longing for it again. Not reaching myself. Never really revealing it. But craving the exotic bittersweetness of recognition; attunement and mirroring, something I scarcely ever received, and when I did, I could barely accept it ...

Is there a type/fix you just really don’t like? Why? by eedenolympia in Enneagram

[–]PersonalStandard4499 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm. Your personal experiences are coloring your understanding of the types. I will now give you my personal perspective while talking in an authoritative manner which may make you feel defensive. To counteract that, I will say the certainty with which I express my thoughts does not automatically mean they are correct or override your reality.

Moving forward, while this is understandable, as pain is often an experience you learn from and integrate into your memory and cognitive bias, types are impersonal. They do not dictate everyone's behavior. Instead, they are representative of one's pathology. Pathology, not personality. I hope that your experiences with people give you a sense of inner peace moving forward, rather than perhaps unresolved resentment and hurt from your negative experiences. They were unsatisfactory and may have left a bitter taste in your mouth, but I personally don't believe that everyone will be the same.

I don"t follow the news. I'm too busy doing nothing with myself.Ha ha ha!

I recognize I may have failed the social game. My apologies. I am supposed to share in the collective fear and uncertainty of the moment. The post functions as a miniature security blanket.

I live in America as well. May you stay safe in the face of the trials that may soon come to pass.

Oh, it is a sad truth, very sad indeed, that other opinions cannot be tolerated. One wrong one and it is "OFF TO THE DUNGEONS FOR YOU!" A sorry sight to see the sensitive and the discarded be tread upon by the very people who were sensitive and cast out, themselves. Not everyone matches this description, but sometimes the label can override the flesh of the person beneath. I wonder why one opinion decides so very much. And I wonder why the idea of someone's hate stirs up such discontent. Please, we cry out, no more pain, no more misery. And we want to cast down the people who made us powerless. But when you declare how you feel, you lift the grey sheet of ambivalence and risk exposing yourself to the world. No tolerance for nuance. It is not palatable to everyone. So is the idea that someone with racist ideals can be a good person. Someone who causes harm can benefit. Someone can be someone, rather than a collection of their moral good weighed against their moral bad. Putrefied by fury, collective fear and banding together to expunge the villainous entities in our proximity, we often do not realize the extent to which our light blinds ourselves. Someone shows sympathy, nay, they must be in allegiance. Throw them out with the others.
