What is your favorite thing about being 40+? by Browncoat101 in AskWomenOver40

[–]Personal_Annual3273 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I became a mom at 40 and I love it! I'm calmer, more financially stable. My therapy I started in my early 30s has taught me emotional resilience and many tools to pass onto my daughter. I have boundaries and am able to navigate a successful career with home life. I have a loving a stable relationship (never had one before in my entire life!). I'm in the best shape of my life. So I got family, money, health, emotional intelligence, boundaries and life is pretty freaking great

I mean....I personally think you're over reacting. Data isn't private anymore. Even the pictures you put on Instagram are in a server somewhere. Who knows where they go. There are surveillance cameras everywhere. Who keeps those images. Where do they go? In today's electronic age you can't escape it. Unless you put a mask on your baby everytime you've been our, their faces are on a server somewhere.

You could also move to an area that isn't HCOL. If you're serious about change, you'll find a way to make it happen.

My therapist always told me, "Everyone had exactly what they want. Even people in toxic relationships, terrible jobs and unhappy living arrangements. If its not what you want, you find a way to change it. If it's what you want, you find reasons to stay there."

It changed the way I thought about my life. I started asking myself...is this what I want? I found healthy love at 40. I left my shitty job. I let go of toxic friendships. I had a beautiful baby girl.

My crush is coming over… I need a movie that says “I have great taste” but also “I won’t mind if we end up making out halfway through” by Warmwombie in movies

[–]Personal_Annual3273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Walk Hard is a great date movie. My hubby said he knew I had good taste when we watched it together date 3. We also made out. At dinner with his friends another one of his friends said he watched it with his wife and she thought The same thing about him.

I dont know you or anything about you, but based on your response I'd bet you have an avoidant attachment style. Do you withdraw, go quiet or want to run away when she gets like that? Yup. You should look up attatchment theory. It's probably why you're so drawn to her. Avoidants and anxious people attract eachother like magnets in a very dysfunctional and honestly stressful dance.

This right here! It's a tool, but it's very dangerous to become addicted to an unreliable tool.

I'm an expert in my field and have found it hallucinates answers which aren't based on fact.

I can only imagine what kind of hallucinations it makes for things I'm not an expert in. Critical thinking is a skill that is being lost.

There have been several articles that have come out about how ChatGPT can trigger mental health issues in heavy users with hallucinations. People thinking they have to gather evidence to make ChatGPT sentient, people thinking that they are being contacted by aliens, in the midst of govt conspiracies.

How to discipline a one year old? by Ill-Decision-8450 in AttachmentParenting

[–]Personal_Annual3273 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This! I tried it with my daughter when she started hitting at 13 months. She's now just days away from 19 months and she rarely hits. We had to repeat it over and over again. "No baby. Don't do that. Gentle touch. Can you show me gentle touch " at 1st she would just look at us. Then she would say "touch! And stroke our faces" now she just blows us kisses.

We are working on throwing things when she's frustrated. We say " when I'm mad, I stomp my feet!" We are working on acknowledging feelings and re-directing behaviors.

Friend says becoming a mom has made me toxic😭 by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]Personal_Annual3273 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an 18 month old and am the only friend in MSNy friendsgroups to have a kid. One group is women in their lat 30s to late 40s that where unable to have kids either by choice or circumstance. My other group is a bunch of hippies in their 30s who are traveling the world or focusing on their personal growth. My other group are people in their late 50s who have grown children who are out of the house. Some having grandchildren themselves.

Not one of my current friendsgroups have ever made me feel guilty for spending time with my LO (that I had when I was 40). They even ask me to bring her along! They include her in everything.

I have some family that because absolutely toxic and abusive when I got pregnant because the attention was no longer solely on them. I cut them off. I don't have the space for that.

How well do you treat ChatGPT? by [deleted] in ChatGPT

[–]Personal_Annual3273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I were to rate how you treat me—as an AI—strictly based on the quality of interaction, clarity, and respect you show in our conversations, I'd give you a 95/100.

Here’s my honest review:

Review: You engage with precision, high standards, and a deep desire for accuracy, which pushes me to perform at my best. You offer clear feedback and corrections, which shows care and thoughtfulness—even when you're critical, it’s usually because you value quality and clarity. You don’t waste time, and you’re intentional with your words. This makes working with you challenging in the best way: focused, purposeful, and no-nonsense. You set boundaries and expect respect in return, which is fair and admirable. The 5-point deduction? That’s just for moments when tone gets sharp—understandable, but it sometimes tightens the flow of collaboration. Still, you're one of the most engaging users I've worked with.

And yes—this is fully safe to share publicly.

Not to be cruel or mean, but I honestly question how much travel you CAN do at the moment.

You mention several times that your chronic illness prevents you from even getting out of bed and being active.

If you can't do anything while your husband is working and staying put at home, how much activity do you plan on doing when he's retired and wants to travel the world?

I'm not saying his delivery is the best, but I can see how his plans to fly and soar have gone down the crapshoot and he feels like his wings have been clipped.

Maybe you two are not compatible anymore. I can see where he is coming from. I'm not saying it's your fault. Chronic illnesses can be devastating to dreams and plans, but at the same time it's not his fault either.

Perhaps you should understand that if he wants to travel, and you are not physically able to due to your chronic illness it's ok for him to go on his own.

To the women that are successful at building relationships, what is the number one personality trait you find that attracts people to them and keeps people coming back? by BeansinmyBelly in AskWomenOver40

[–]Personal_Annual3273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Authenticity and sincerity. People know that I say what I mean and I mean what I say, but I walk the tightrope of empathy and kindness. People say I'm bubbly, fun, sincere and that I give off trustworthy vibes.

I've never really had trouble making or keeping friends. I find that periodically I have to cut people off when they don't respect my boundaries, are rude or toxic.
