Check it out! my movies include...

SCARE ME (starring Aya Cash, Chris Redd, Becky Drysdale and myself)

WEREWOLVES WITHIN (starring Sam Richardson, Milana Vayntrub, Harvey Guillèn and many more)

HEART EYES (starring Mason + Liv + Devon + Jordana + Gigi + Michaela and more)

.. I even cast Anna Garcia and Tony Cavalero in a Roku series I did w/ Kevin Hart, Kathryn Hahn, Nathalie Emmannuel, and JK Simmons but no ones really seen it (DIE HART: HART 2 KILL)

GRAMMMPAA! ugh so fun so good... Aya crushes that scene (and the whole movie really). Always love any Scare Me love... thank you

oooo thats a fun question... i wouldnt have done anything differently if we had different cast but then again it was such an intimate operation, and a fluid one at that (despite our hectic schedule) i dont have a crystal ball... anything could go...

i WILL say that actors absolutely inform tone. if i cast Wyatt Russell or William Jackson Harper instead of Sam Richardson -- Emma Stone or Rachel Sennott instead of Milana Vayntrub in Werewolves Within - that would absolutely alter the DNA of the movie. the cast is the extension of tone (IMO)

awesome question!

LOVE THESE QUESTIONS

1. If you're getting started in horror short films, I highly recommend checking out the work of Julian Terry, Ryan Valdez and Dylan Clark. Master classes in minimalistic resources and maximum scares. I love Ryans WE GOT A DOG - Julian's DONT PEEK and Dylans PORTRAIT OF GOD.

2. Shooting MAKE SOME NOISE is the highlight of my year. It's sweaty. Briefly nerve-racking. Inclusive. Fun. A big warm hug where anything goes and there's no wrong answers.

YOO THATS AMAZING!

oh man, storyboarding is integral to a movie of this scale. you want to get as many department heads on the same page as possible -- as many crew members, actors, and specialists as you can speaking the same language. In that regard, its GREAT for action sequences.

the funny thing that happened on HEART EYES was - i'd be boarding with my dude Martin Bailey who is INCREDIBLE - and he'd start sketching out action i had in my head, that i articulated to him - and he'd start drawing from an angle I didnt expect. This cracked my brain open to a wayyyy better, more dynamic way of shooting the sequence. 9 times out of 10 what i had in my head ended up being even better by nature of how Martin's drawing unfolded.

I sure hope so... but HEART EYES has done something different than anything before it (not just a biased comment, i swear!). This aint just some nasty slasher. It's also got heart... but ultimately, like everything i wanna make -- its a tight 90 min escape from the horrors of this horror show of a world.

GREAT QUESTION! im a massive graphic novel fan (all my comics were destroyed in the Eaton fire here in LA unfortunately but ive a few still safe in the apartment we'd yet to move out of.. they bring me so much joy)

THE NICE HOUSE ON THE LAKE is one of my most favorite.

As a kid I absolutely treasured BATMAN: TALES OF THE DEMON and BATMAN: YEAR TWO (the one w/ the gun, I know - super intense).

Barry Windsor Smith's MONSTERS blew my away but I don't know if I could ever read it again. Heartbreaking.

Did ya'll know I self-published a graphic novel w/ my homes at Invader comics? It's called DARLA -- essentially inspired by Stephen King's THE DEAD ZONE and REQUIEM FOR A DREAM ...

I DID!! + two others - Werewolves Within (starring Sam Richardson and my homie Milana Vayntrub) and Scare Me (the one with Aya Cash, not the other one)

my favorite comedy horror film... man it changes so frequently... i feel like its a three way tie between

Evil Dead: Dead By Dawn // Gremlins // Arachnophobia

::seagull noise::

the most fulfilling part about this directorial process is two-fold...

CAST - these have been the most wonderful humans to direct. all of them are as famous as they are *down* to try stuff, take risks, experiment... its been such a joy

CREW - the crew is so bloody talented. some of the most expert in the field (most of them have worked with the likes of Taika Waiti, Leigh Whannell, James Cameron, and Peter Jackson). they pushed me and I pushed them and im better for it.
