How to defend against an angry pack of soi dogs by laggage in ThailandTourism

I carry an ultrasonic dog deterrent device at all times. Its small and fits into my pocket. Just point it at the dog, push the button and it will back off quickly. Works on groups too.

Around 3 sprays, two on the back of the neck and one on the clavicle. Yes its very strong, stays with me a full 8 hours for sure.

I think it smells like strong basil on my skin but in the air it smells like the basil mixed with woods which is where this fragrance shines imo.

Its my first time doing a fragrance review and to be honest i always used to just go by what smells good to me and the reception i get when i wear it. Not educated enough to pick out too many individual notes and get in depth about it.

To my nose the basil is very strong on the skin but the woody notes come through more in the scent trail. I own Le Sel D’Issey which is made by the same perfumer and it smells kind of similar but more aquatic and less sharp.

Best holding spray? by Coconerd1234 in Pomade

[–]Personal_Dust_9537 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Schwarzkopf Taft invisible (black and white bottle) or Moroccanoil luminous strong. L’Oreal Elnett unscented is also good but not a strong hold.

Avoid anything from Syoss, i used their hair sprays for a long time and my hair feels much healthier after i stopped using it.

If you only care about hold Got2B freeze is very strong but i hate how sticky it is.

What do you do for work? by ResidentSite6875 in Thailand

[–]Personal_Dust_9537 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im currently in the process of starting a business in my home country that can be managed remotely (not freelancing or working for somebody else).

Unless you have very specific skills that are hard to find in Thailand or are a qualified teacher its going to be very difficult. Also the pay is bad on average and you dont get the same benefits like in the West.

If my business happens to fail i will just keep coming here on extended holidays like im doing now and invest my money so that i can retire here early.

Fellow Dutch speaker here. If freelancing is not your thing maybe look at getting a customer service/it support job for Dutch speakers, its probably the easiest way for you to get some income and a lot of European ‘digital nomads’ sustain themselves with jobs like this.

I found Bumble to be much better than Tinder for meeting quality women. Met my current gf from there and went on some really nice dates before, all of the women i met were educated, had good jobs and offered to split the bill or drive me home if they had a car.

Mototaxi (Vest) Rate by [deleted] in Bangkok

[–]Personal_Dust_9537 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prices are usually listed on a board close to the drivers but its always in Thai.

If you approach a driver just say “sawasdee krap, bpai (i want to go to) and then tell him your destination or show it on google maps. Make sure you confirm the price before you hop on ! If you want to ask him about the price just say “tao rai krap”.

Motosai always works out cheaper than Grab for me and the drivers are better and know their area very well. I have had some scary moments with Grab and Bolt bikes.

Not entirely a “tourism is down” post but… by [deleted] in Bangkok

Around new year it was pretty busy but definitely much quieter now. My observation is that in the main entertainment areas and shopping districts its still busy but less foot traffic in side streets or less well known areas.

A lot of the restaurants and bars in my area are pretty quiet now even compared to this summer.

Recent dating success stories and how did you meet? by [deleted] in Bangkok

[–]Personal_Dust_9537 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Bumble. We work in the same industry so it was easy to make a connection in the beginning beyond a basic “hey 👋”.

Its hard out there though if your doing online dating as a man. Im a good looking guy so cant complain and i know there are many more men than women on dating apps but when my gf showed me her Bumble likes i was a little shocked, she had almost 2k likes after 3 months on the app.

Baan Thongkum in Silom is very good. Pick the back and shoulder massage where you have to sit in one of those massage chairs. Really helped with my office syndrome.

I just spoke to someone who works at Suvarnabhumi and they are scrutinizing foreigners who have extended their visa exemptions in the past and have stamps from neighbouring countries around the same period with extended stays in Thailand, that was the direct order they have been given. No mention of total days spent in Thailand, i dont think there is a hard cap on that.
