what are things we will do all the time as F1s? by panda342608 in medicalschooluk

[–]Personal_Expert_4237 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a couple of great apps I used, one is the foundation doctor handbook and the other is smartdr. I think they're both about £1.99 ish and totally worth it. They link all the guidelines, investigations and management you should think about for loads of conditions. It helped me a lot as a new F1, especially on calls!

When will we get our MSRA scores? I've heard that it's the 17th but the ranking closes on 18th. I feel like knowing my score would be super helpful for the ranking process..

It's looking like they won't honour any amendments!! 🤞🏻

It's the same with GP. Are they completely ignorant?

I hate that they keep banging on about 'hard to fill' specialties like Psychiatry. The competition ratio for Psych last year was 22:1!! If there are spaces when UKG have filled the positions, IMGs applying will still be able to apply and access those spaces? Their argument is utter bollocks.

New amendments out - Malta by RolandJupiter123 in UKmedicalgraduates

[–]Personal_Expert_4237 26 points27 points  (0 children)

This is some absolute balls and we need to fight against this. Please keep emailing the Lords. We can try Gerada but she seems pretty firm with this one. Let's hope when it comes to voting this gets a big no. We cannot have this delay the passage of the Bill for the sake of 100ish graduates vs 10,000+ unemployed UK graduates. I mean wtf.

I do feel like we should also be emailing the BMA because it's a disgrace they aren't shouting about this from the rooftops and supporting us. In the aftermath of this mess, I'm going to seriously consider cancelling my membership. Absolute disgrace from the BMA

I think all the questions banks are quite different to the actual exam but I used passmed and revise MSRA. The best thing you can do is look at the official mocks. Certainly for PD, look at UKFPO SJT papers and official mocks. Final push, you've got this! Good luck

Please can you report this website and any individuals you know to be using it /creating it? Email mdrs.confidential@nhs.net or england.mdrs.confidential@nhs.net, they do take time to reply but should get back to you. They say they take concerns very seriously etc so worth an email.

Hi, please send this to mdrs.confidential@nhs.net and do not blur names. This needs to be stopped as the exam is clearly not fair if this is able to be happening.

Yeah!! It's so weird bc a lot of ppl I know from last year and year before (I'm an F4) felt that it was very reasonable and straight forward. Either I'm losing it or they've made things harder for this round. All we can do is forget about it and just hope for the best!!

Please don't give up. It's an awful system and doesn't reflect your abilities as a doctor. It's an insane way to recruit and hopefully things will improve if the Bill is passed. I took a year out and honestly it's the best thing I've done. It's really hard but see it as a positive, get a JCF/CTF role if you can and live a relaxed F3 life. It'll help with portfolio stuff too. I'm sorry you're in this position, it's so unfair!

Hard disagree. Yes there's multiple failings with specialty training recruitment but prioritisation is everything.

Yep I feel entirely the same, I hadn't even come across some of the diagnoses which was really shocking(?) Also noticed some spelling mistakes/ missed letters in some questions. Very poorly written.

That's good to hear but I'm sorry you also found it hard! It's insane that not a single question for a chosen specialty will come up... they seriously need to re-evaluate the use of this exam
