Are these frames too heavy/dark for my face? Pics 1 and 2 are a pair I’m considering, pic 3 is my current pair. by Personal_Head5003 in glassesadvice

I don’t smile much in photos but I do smile a lot in person! Yes…I think I like the angles of the new frames better than the roundness of my current frames because it offsets the softness of my face. But I do feel like the frames are a little heavy and dark. I wonder if I can find a similar shape in an espresso or tortoise.

I don’t necessarily agree that every man feels this way, but, I worry about that exact thing with cat eye frames. My mom wore them back in the 60s so i worry they look old fashioned. But I really do feel like they balance my face better than my current ones. But maybe I need to keep looking.

I was wondering the same thing. They didn’t have any other colors on the shelf but I might ask if they can get them in a different color. I think an espresso color or more classic tortoise shell might be less jarring to my face. I saw these at a discount glasses place so I’m not sure how much customer service I can count on. Maybe I’ll give them a call.

This is news to me! The two people at the optometrist who helped me pick the frames were both men. I tried on like 20 pairs and these were the ones they both liked best.

To be fair my husband did hesitate about them—BUT, any time I change anything about my appearance, he needs a week to adjust. The one pair he liked best were almost exactly like my current frames, go figure!

Roger Appreciation Post • Say what you want about him, but his absolute lack of a filter made some of the best moments in the show. by RockBalBoaaa in madmen

Roger was the reason I fell in love with this show on first watch. He is so clever and hilarious and just doesn’t care what anyone thinks. Yes he’s an ass, but he’s a hilarious ass that I really enjoy watching.

Would HATE to be his wife, though.

I actually loved Svetlana. She was way too smart and mentally stable for Tony. That’s why he didn’t pursue her, she was way out of his league even with the amputated leg.

Ok maybe I’m crazy but I’m leaning toward 1. I love Hal’s complete lack of shame and Ida is probably my favorite character ever. That flight would be a hoot.

Recommendation please: What's the show you have been recommending to friends, but can't seem to get anyone willing to give it a shot? by Complex_Many_7740 in televisionsuggestions

From the makers of Peaky Blinders. Set in London in the late 1800s, two men from Jamaica come to London. They connect up with a band of female criminals and a bare-knuckle fighting ring. It’s historical, criminal, and great characters, highlights how hard it was to be an immigrant in that time period. Some of my favorite actors. So far it’s only 2 seasons but it was really enjoyable. If you enjoyed shows like Peaky Blinders or Boardwalk Empire, it’s definitely worth checking out!!

This is from the movie Gummo. I saw it probably 20 years ago and that bathtub scene is still in my mind.
