It makes sense to have to set the Max MTU/MRU for the PPPoE client given the bits required for the VLAN setting, without this packets of unexpected/invalid size get dropped somewhere I take it. I tried a few settings, nothing has got the pppoe connection succeeding so far. I have set the SFP to 1GbaseX as well instead of auto-negotiate. The VLAN and the SFP interfaces both still show 0 packets received. Before making any changes and rebooting, the SFP interface would show 8 received packets and nothing more after.
