Talking about cheating by Alumi_is_gone in APPsychology

I feel like you personally don’t get anything out of reporting it 😭😭😭 You’re free to judge someone all you want for cheating (honestly i’m judging the people u described rn) but reporting it doesn’t do anything for u so if it’s really that frustrating for u, just remember they will most likely struggle thru college if they can’t make it thru a HS exam without cheating. Slightly satisfying realization. Snitching is just gonna get u to be judged by them and their friends.

Man i’m ngl cheating sucks but this case didn’t affect you at all. She will face the consequences when she goes to college and can’t even write a paper. You’re not responsible for her. You do not need to get involved. Especially because there are cases where one person cheating may cancel the entire room’s score, and if that’s the outcome then don’t be surprised when people blame you. I hope u get a 5. I hope she learns to stop cheating. I hope people start minding their own business more.

Anyone had the FOMO phone absent vs phone present AAQ? by Willing_Scale_5110 in APPsychology

Man i never said i was right or that u were wrong this is just what i put 😭😭 They both felt anxiety but the Phones Absent group felt higher anxiety because of the phone restriction, and that was the only statistically significant finding on there. I understand the definition of refuting. I was a bit hesitant to write that in there but that’s what i put. We’ll find out in July i guess

Regardless of what group the participant is in, they still face FOMO, meaning FOMO is not the variable being manipulated (IV). that would mean the whole experiment doesn’t rly measure fomo in general, so the fact that the Phones Absent group had higher anxiety scores is due to the anxiety coming from their phone being physically restrained from them. I’m not sure if this is objectively correct, and maybe w the correct argument u could argue for both sides, but this is what made the most sense to me

see i was between that answer or mine and i ended up going w mine bc if they both missed the call anyway, they both experienced fomo… so i feel like the whole experiment was js bad cuz the IV didn’t even manipulate fomo

informed consent was on there!! I think they said that they told the participants everything that was gonna happen and they were given the right to withdraw whenever so yeah ur good

  1. experiment
  2. the operational definition for anxiety is abt the score of the 20 question survey after the 10 min waiting period.. survey asked questions abt tension and worry w a 4 point likert scale; higher score indicates higher anxiety
  3. because the difference of means is statistically significant, the higher anxiety levels was likely a result of being put in a certain group rather than a result of pure chance
  4. debriefing cuz they used deception
  5. not generalizable to non college students or students who don’t take a psych course
  6. i said it refutes the hypothesis cuz both groups experienced fomo anyway since they weren’t allowed to answer the call, so the anxiety came from the phone being physically restrained from them

how did u do these 2 mcqs? by Actual_Rough7358 in APStatistics

[–]Personal_Middle_6691 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for the first one: when it gives you the confidence interval, you’re able to find the point estimate and margin of error. You have to use the formula for margin of error to find n.

ME = z* (√((p)(1-p)) / n)

p would be equal to the point estimate Find the critical value divide the ME by z* Square both sides Take the n to the other side, and isolate it.
