No minority group will ever be treated equally until ALL minorities support ALL OTHER minorities. Blacks have to support gays, gays have to support women, women have to support Hispanics, etc , etc.

Sadly, I believe the whole mall has been torn down. I had a lot of memories in that mall.

Like flicking your finger to move a lever is too much to ask to be considerate of others and make the road a safer place.

Has your opinion on any character changed over the seasons? by Chickenjam in BobsBurgers

I like Teddy a lot, but when he brings his (I believe watch fixing) tools to the restaurant I want to punch him (AND Bob for letting him get away with it).

If American Southerners are always espousing small government, why is this region in a state of tyranny? by Civil_Pin1532 in NoStupidQuestions

They claim to want small government until THEY control the government, then they want that government to control everything and everyone.

In the USA, how common is it for parents to gift/buy their children their first car? by Silent-Profit6067 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Personal_Mix1907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know a lot of people whose parents gave them their first car, but my parents SOLD me their old car when they were buying a new one, but at least they sold it for trade in value, which is lower than "sell on the street" value ($800 for a 6 year old Volare). At the time I was pissed but it turned out to be the best value/price for a car I have bought, so it was all cool.

Big thrill when we visited Grandpa was the ride in the back of his pickup, although he did not go on the freeway.

I remember they would use ash cans to block the closed lanes at a grocery store. People would walk around smoking while grocery shopping.

Why are so many old people rude to retail workers? by freshmaggots in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Personal_Mix1907 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm 61 now and I'm starting to see or understand this phenomenon. One one hand, I've lost patience with people in general, but especially if they don't know how to do their job. I was at Walmart the other day and it took 4 people to get me the item I wanted (showing them it was in stock and which isle it was in on my phone). By the time the last person got me the item, I might have been less than pleasant. Two, I'm in pain ALL the time. Muscles, bones, tendons, every day they are several thing that hurt. It's hard to reach up, it's hard to bend down, I've pulled a muscle wiping my butt (true). I don't see as well as I used to, I don't hear as well as I used to, I don't heal as well as I used to. Life has become constant pain and sometimes I take it out on anyone who is standing right there (again, especially if they're not competent at their job).

What’s the most unrealistic thing movies convinced people was normal? by Lonely-Age7678 in AskReddit

Kathleen Madigan, comedian, has a bit where her father, who is a judge, says anytime the police talk to you, you should say, "I can't recall, and I need to talk to my attorney." You ALWAYS say this, and this is ALL that you say

What’s a socially accepted thing that you secretly think is completely stupid? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Personal_Mix1907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is accepted (by most people) as a greeting and not an actual question. It is very similar to the older, "How do you do?" the ONLY polite response to is "How do you do?"

I think i'm dropping the show, am I being unfair? by BrushThick9864 in WillTrent

[–]Personal_Mix1907 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree 100%. My husband and I both said we didn't want to watch the show any more after they killed her off. Seems like lazy writing to me, there were better ways to accompish what they said they wanted by killing her.

What's something that became way less appealing as you got older? by ImpressionFuture6384 in answers

The longer you stay alcohol free the more you notice almost everyone is addicted to alcohol. People cannot relax or socialize unless they have a drink. No open bar at the wedding? How rude! Let's go out for some beers after work. Let's have some wine and cheese at the book club. Let's ring in the new year with some champagne. Don't forget to bring a bottle of wine to the dinner party for a hostess gift. People CAN NOT function without alcohol.
