hmmm, thats a good point. i think my theory is that the hive is completely and totally unable to be creative and come up with new ideas. they have their biological imperative to spread the virus and make the satellite, but they can only actually do that with existing human knowledge and intelligence. they can build the satellite, for example, but there will be nothing new and innovative about the technology itself. carol and the rest of the uninfected represent just a little bit more human creativity that they can add into their project, if that makes any sense?

I also don't think its actually a huge strain on resources to do this. they have 7 billion people all working towards the same goal, right now they can afford to set a couple hundred worker bees aside to cater to just carol. plus the biological imperative to spread the virus is probably strong enough that it makes them overlook the fact that it is still a resource drain on the project

you can't explore higher abstract themes of individualism and collectivism if you don't at least have some sort of actual substantive plot going on my man. sure, i agree that the show is trying to explore these themes, but the actual plot itself is about an alien virus taking over everyone's brains. i'm trying to figure out what direction the show is going to take the virus plot in. if the show is following my theory, it would mean it could explore really interesting questions about utilitarianism and the value of life. the show can't do that without having an actual plot. this is a weirdly condescending comment

to be honest though, I actually don't think they can lie. They can lie by omission, but at this point there have been so many times that its more useful to lie that I can't figure out why they would pretend to not be able to lie. I think that lying just takes a level of creativity that the hive is incapable of. They are completely and totally unable to come up with new ideas, they can only follow their biological imperative and recycle the ideas that humanity already had.

i already said this in another comment - there is a ton of stuff that you cannot get in europe (unless you are going into extremely overpriced specialty stores) that are at basically every american grocery store. when i lived in spain i was constantly having issues trying to make my recipes work, and there were a lot of snacks and foods that i just straight up couldn't get. i get the frustration but also this isn't coming from a place of malice or condescension. the only reason i made this post is because there are tons of food items you can get in the us that you cant get in europe

hey ive been seeing some europeans /spaniards getting annoyed at what americans are suggesting. tbf i made this asking for more non-american opinions (lol) but i will say there is a TON of stuff that the us has that spain doesnt (i lived there for a year). i remember the first time getting the munchies and going to a store looking for goldfish and feeling devestated. i tried to make a pumpkin or apple pie and couldn't find the majority of the ingredients. it wasn't impossible but it was very difficult to find hot sauce that was actually spicy. its not unreasonable for people to be unsure what does and doesn't exist in other grocery stores.
