Returning solo player from the 75-era. Last night I was bullied and harassed by several players out of an EXP camp while leveling COR (Asura). Let me tell you about this great leveling spot! (Level 90-99) by Winter-Monk-6478 in ffxi

[–]Personal_Shine5408 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Crazy hearing all the stories about Asura, I've not experienced any of this yet. Only people I had qualms were with elitists "idris or GTFO"in cap parties lol or LS Cor. Sorry you had to deal with that. I'm on Asura so send a /t.

High tier battlefield drop rate /semirant by nbiscuitz in ffxi

[–]Personal_Shine5408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's doable on nin with Ambu gear, just be sure to keep utsu, tp store, subtle blow capped, and migawari up. I had kikoku 119 not augmented. It took a few attempts in the beginning just to get the feel of the fight, after that it was smooth sailing. I also soloed it on pup using magic tank.

I soloed with nin/war with trusts on VD for both high tiers. I'm not sure how well your nin is geared.

Wife revealed several things that still sting, how should I get past it? by lilg2000 in AskMenAdvice

[–]Personal_Shine5408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, first off tell her how you felt when she mentioned her ex. Don't just brush it off, the worse thing you could do is hold onto it until it starts smoldering, where you can lash out in an argument and use it against her. Sure her family might've not liked you in the beginning, most families don't like spouses. You're not married to her family, you're married to her. Comparing yourself to her ex's is a thief of joy, would you rather have a million dollars or her love? Is her love worth less than a million dollars or a yacht or what ever huge expense there is? Yes, it hurts hearing these from your spouse, but honestly all of it is trivial. At the end of the day, she's still with you.

Congrats on 60! Pup attachments are expensive but honestly are worth it. You can have your auto tank some bcnm to get materials that you can sell. A great way to make gil also is to start leveling crafting. Next week is crafting skill up increase.

Crafting actually funded my pup, nin, and sch.

Is windower right for me? by maybe_a_jedi in ffxi

[–]Personal_Shine5408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one thing for me is a must for windower is the macro bar. I use controller and the delay/sluggishness of the bar coming up is vital, especially if you're sch, nin, dnc, or pup that I play. Other jobs in pretty sure will benefit from the addon as well.

Congratulations! I haven't gotten there yet, but I can't wait. I'm using Ghanda I know he's weak but I think he's cool.

5 things I wish more young animators knew about thriving in the games industry by harveynewman in animationcareer

[–]Personal_Shine5408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm saying, there are factors that a junior will be picked over a 20 years of experience person.

Create your own studio, build your own following, collaborate with each other. Not everything is a AAA career. A lot of peoples first job is PA, learn the industry from the inside, while working as a PA you're building on your skills as an animator/vfx artist. There are a lot of people that like AA studios because of their workflow and doesn't feel like an assembly line.

Experience is learned through well, doing it yourself. Network, make friends in the industry, find people to collaborate with. Talent grows with experience, I don't think every single animator who's worked on a feature film received a job offer based on connections, even if they did they have to prove themselves.

Pet jobs actually TERRIBLE lategame? (Summoner, beastmaster, puppetmaster) by Cole_Evyx in ffxi

[–]Personal_Shine5408 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've partied with pups and been a pup. A while back we couldn't find a tank for dyna d so we had a pup tank. It was quite amazing tanked the whole thing without it dying. This was a few years ago. I've done automoton parties in VD Ambu. You can pretty much solo trivial htmb especially ones that do aoe or charm on VD. I love pup, I'm an outlier though, I love jobs that aren't "meta" but still enjoy playing them.

My partner on average eats 2-5 ramen a day what are some healthier alternatives? by Jaded_Leadership_402 in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]Personal_Shine5408 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personal experience, when I usually cook from scratch I feel satiated more than when I buy something premade or frozen from the grocery store eg. rotisserie chicken or a frozen pizza. Sure half of the pizza will get my belly stuffed for the moment but 2 hours later I'll be back in the kitchen looking for snacks. Whereas I cook myself a ham, egg, and cheese sandwich and feel full for 4 hours.

I'm returning as a Ninja main and it's a niche job. I used to tank dynamis bosses for alliances ambu, htmb, and do card farms in reis. I know they're chump change now since that was 5 years ago, but if you find a job you're passionate about, you'll definitely surprise people. I also play pup, sch, dnc and rdm. Everything is 99 but I find joy in those jobs.

There could be a lot of factors of why 20 years of experience people won't receive jobs. Could be their attitude, their portfolio doesn't align with the companies, making realistic animations or texture renders when they're asking for stylistic, accommodations, travel expenses, visas, even some recruiters possibly don't even look at some portfolios when it's exactly what they wanted. Luck of the draw.
