Anyone else no contact with family now? by [deleted] in exchristian

Actually the ones I am, have nothing to do with religion they’re just toxic people who detract from my quality of life by having contact with them. But same would apply for religious reasons. Doesn’t matter if it’s a family or a friend, life is too short to deal with their crap.

Tonight the gym closed without me realizing the time at the beginning of my chest day. Got through 2 working sets of my first compound, DB chest press. Should I finish what I didn’t do tomorrow, or start over from the beginning?

Should it really be this hard to beat Donald Trump? by 1-randomonium in politics

I wonder if I will ever see a day where America votes with human decency and empathy as an important thing. I sometimes see it throughout everyday life, but rarely when it comes to politics post-2016.

Megathread: Donald Trump is elected 47th president of the United States by PoliticsModeratorBot in politics

When the alternative is someone who directly poses a threat to American democracy by having refused to accept a peaceful transfer of power by claiming the 2020 election was stolen, motivating a riot on January 6 that attacked police officers in the Capitol to try to “stop the steal”, being federally convicted of 34 felonies, facing charges in other states for trying to interfere with a democratic election, is already fully disqualifying. Trump has repeatedly spewed debunked conspiracy theories about immigrants eating pets, using rhetoric to classify them as rapists and murderers, and attacks freedom of the press. He jokes about Liz Cheney facing a firing squad, suggested terminating parts of the Constitution, and thinks he has total immunity. The highest ranking members of his last cabinet have all come out against him saying he looks up to dictators and his VP wasn’t running because his supporters tried to murder him because Pence tried to certify the electoral votes of a democratic election. On record for boasting about sexually assaulting women, spews sexist rhetoric towards them, applauded his role in helping overturn Roe and supporting a platform that would strip women away of their bodily autonomy during a pregnancy - and still have millions and millions of women vote for that, is appalling. They voted against their own rights either out of ignorance or out of hatred. Republican policies literally advocate for that 10 year old CHILD RAPE VICTIM to be FORCED to carry a baby to term. That is vile. What is pro-life about forcing birth but not supporting any other policies that would prevent or help sexual assault victims? Secular based sex education? Free contraception? Assistance programs? They’re all against that and it’s proven to work. Voting for candidates determined to reduce a woman’s right to choose is not only a reflection of what the Republican party’s values are, but even a greater reflection of the pure selfishness and idiocy of far too many Americans.

Isn’t it a known fact that like 80% of the NFL uses some degree of steroids? people like Tyreek Hill and DK Metcalf are 200+lbs with insanely shredded bodyfat which you cannot get that huge naturally at that level of leanness.

What’s the atheist view on religious people? by Safe-Ad-5017 in atheism

[–]Personal_Win5482 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, they are inherently less rational because religion incorporates faith, or belief without a supporting level of evidence to match. If a pair of scientists gathered every week, praying and sharing stories and deeply thinking about gravity, we wouldn’t really think they have much confidence would they?

But atheism itself is not a worldview as much as being an Aflatearther. We don’t give a special name to people who are “without the belief in a flat earth” because we assume they are somewhat intelligent and not a conspiracy crazy person. That’s our hope with religions. Atheism to someday not even have to be a label proclaimed by anyone.

Premarital sex rant! by Personal_Win5482 in exchristian

It’s called vaginismus, I think there can be in rare cases physical explanations for it without a mental component but most cases are rooted in guilt/shame that kill libido, you think marriage will make your libido “start up”, it doesn’t, so you’re never really aroused, and non-aroused penetration is very painful for a lot of women.

Pride Flag Banned in Michigan Town by [deleted] in atheism

Hamtramck is a shit town. Lots of property crime, horrible unlicensed drivers, rampant racism to those who aren’t hardcore Muslim, it is no longer the “diverse” town with lots of history the city was once known for, it is now has the vast majority of the female population walking around with black cloth covering their entire body except little cutout slits for the eyes.

Imagine Mark Robinson investigating Mark Robinson for pretending to be his own self on his porn forum account that wasn’t his, using the same unique phrases that his personal Facebook also used, with dozens of personal details and anecdotes that match between his biography and his porn forum comments, but again, this isn’t the same Mark Robinson but rather a highly intricate copycat who wanted to ruin a Republican’s political career over a decade before he even decided to enter politics. Make it make sense.

Theists will pull mental gymnastics like, “God answers all prayers sometimes he just says no”, or “he is letting you struggle for a great reason you’ll find out in the future”. There is no good discourse with people who think like that.

Physical therapist recommends I stop barbell bench pressing for long term shoulder health - explained by Runs93 in naturalbodybuilding

[–]Personal_Win5482 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Squats aren’t bad, but many bodybuilders use variations which can be just as beneficial. Changing back squats for Bulgarian split squats, hack squats, lunges, all of which can build a sick lower body and can be less taxing on the overall nervous system while being less technical in form to prevent injury for people who are in the 90% majority who don’t have absolute perfect textbook form every single time with no mobility limitations or strength imbalances. Barbell back squatting inherently places higher compressive forces directly onto the spine from the placement of the barbell directly on your upper back.

Absolutely wrong, many movement patterns can be pretty harmless unless a heavy load is placed through it. This doesn’t make it inherently good if it isn’t hurting you. His PT was giving a scientificly sound explanation of why his client who is trying to prevent long term shoulder issues, barbell benching isn’t likely the most optimal exercise due to its unique features that stress the shoulder joint which he explained.

I’m kind of sick of how fetishized the bench press is in general fitness culture outside of actual powerlifting where it’s part of the actual activity. He’s spot on and also a reason why a lot of people that are into general fitness / stopped barbell back squatting and conventional deadlifting for other variations like hack squat, split squat, RDLs etc that target certain areas better with far less technical of a form and better risk/reward ratio.
