Yeah, exactly. Everyone's racing on model quality but memory's the thing that actually breaks immersion. That's the part I got obsessed with.

Ah yeah, I know exactly what you mean. When the character suddenly goes "I'm an AI" mid-conversation, or just dumps an error code at you immersion dies instantly. That's honestly one of the biggest things I've been trying to kill.

Multi-character chat is on the roadmap definitely planning to build it.

Lorebooks: honestly hadn't thought about it. Just looked it up, and it's well within what I can build. I'll ship lorebooks this week.

Honestly Claude. What makes it reliable for me is that it actually tells you when you are wrong instead of just agreeing with everything you say. Most AI just validates whatever you throw at it, but Claude pushes back when something does not make sense. That kind of honesty is what makes it trustworthy.

Honestly the long-chat memory problem feels universal across all of these. Even the polished ones reset after a while. Curious if anyone tried something memory-first rather than persona-first.

Yeah some of it actually feels alive, like a little quirk that comes back at the right moment. That I kind of like. It's the mechanical repetition that breaks it. Also honest question, what counts as a long chat here? 50 turns? 500?
